It's been a week. We've moved sheep long distances on foot and by trailer, cleared miles of fence line, rebuilt fence and gates, bottle fed lambs, and bled all week from multi flora rose. We pulled off the move to a new farm incident and stress free for the animals, and I couldn't have done it without Emily. The whole family helped stuff the sheep up in some rougher ground tonight where they can ride out the coming heat wave with some shade.

Bad shoe stealing dogs, fat lambs and grass in serious need of some clipping.

Ugh, this is an example of the perfect storm. Last ewe to lamb, triplets that need to be brought in, far end of the farm, 4 wheeler that tows the lamb wagon in the shop, 1 & 7/8" ball got taken out of the truck. It's fine, crammed all 4 of them in the backseat. 3 little perfect ewes, and we're done lambing for '24.

It's too hot for May. This paddock has some nice shade, and the sheep were super into it.

So Truxton has been rolling with me lately. Just about everywhere actually. This is his favorite spot in the truck. Right on the center console. Nobody dare tell him he's too big.

I love this dog. She's absolutely gross but I love her.

Strip grazing. The snow makes it pretty easy to spot where the flock just came from. Everyday they move up the hill another 3 fence posts with no back fence. The sheep have been eating stockpiled grass we've been saving since late summer. From a distance it doesn't look like much but up close there is still plenty of green to be had in there. The hope and plan is to keep going one more month before we have to resort to feeding hay.

Another hell of a sunset out to pasture with the dogs and the sheep.

Ahh, it's that magical time of year when equipment won't start and water is constantly freezing up. Tonight I got stuck opening up water troughs and moving sheep from the cab of the truck. It was kind of nice to have heat actually. Probably not great for the ground though. This group of ewes was super confused by the truck and flat out refused to get out of the way. I couldn't bring myself to honk at them.

Someone told me a while back if you're not ahead, you're behind. I'm definitely not ahead currently. Whether it be at the farm or some side projects I have going on. Regardless, this morning I got Daryls chest paint on and got him turned out with the ladies right on time. Here he is sharing a moment of affection with a ewe before he turns her rump blue with marking paint. All the girls think he's quite handsome. I do too. In about 147 days she will lamb (hopefully twins) out on pasture, and the whole season will start over again...
