NuScale Power Corporation

NuScale Power Corporation NuScale Power Corporation has developed groundbreaking scalable small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear This capability is a first for commercial nuclear power.

CHANGING THE POWER THAT CHANGES THE WORLD

At the heart of the NuScale power plant is the NuScale Power Module™ (NPM), a small modular reactor (SMR) that brings together traditional components—the reactor vessel, steam generator, pressurizer, and containment—into a single, simplified, and fully factory-fabricated unit. Each NPM can produce 77 megawatts of electricity (MWe), and one NuScale plant c

an house up to 12 NPMs for a total output of 924 MWe (gross). This scalability feature is unique to NuScale and allows for customization of facility output to match demand and project economics. NuScale has achieved a paradigm shift in the level of safety of a nuclear power plant facility—safety comes first, second to none. NuScale’s Triple Crown for Nuclear Plant Safety™ design ensures that on loss of all electricity to the power station, an undesirable situation for other nuclear plant designs, each NPM will safely shut down and self-cool, indefinitely, with no need for operator or computer action, AC or DC power, or additional water. NuScale was proud to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy’s inaugural UPRISE event at Louisiana State University, where more than 150 leaders gathered to discuss pathways for expanding nuclear energy capacity.

During an INL-moderated panel, NuScale highlighted our readiness to provide reliable power and steam for industrial facilities. Our partner Ebara Elliott Energy also presented its high-temperature steam compressor, demonstrating how proven industrial systems can support advanced nuclear applications.

Thank you to DOE, LSU, INL, and Ebara Elliott Energy for advancing collaboration across the nuclear energy ecosystem.

What powers a nuclear reactor?

From familiar uranium dioxide pellets used in today’s reactors to emerging options like TRISO particles and molten salt fuels, the world of nuclear fuel is evolving alongside reactor design.

One key takeaway: not every innovation requires reinventing the supply chain. NuScale’s approach uses proven low enriched uranium fuel, the same type already used across the global reactor fleet. That means fewer barriers, more certainty, and faster deployment.

Curious how it all fits together? Start with the fundamentals. https://hubs.li/Q04jhnz20
