The words “RETIREMENT” and “VACATION” are not addressed in the Bible. Because of that omission we should all “think about” how we spend our time without judging others for how they spend their time. It has never occurred to me that I might retire some day in the distant future. Slowing down a little bit - now I have thought about that a lot! Well, here it is the start of Summer and I am on VACATION with my bride, Lori, and with my 98-year-old Uncle Duane. We are in Minnesota, staying at an Airbnb, visiting my cousins (Uncle Duane’s kids), and sightseeing. Life is good! My prayer is that I seek God’s presence, His purpose for me, and that I might end my life well. So - have fun and enjoy the fruits of your labor, but also make a difference in the kingdom by having purpose, mission, and focus on the things that will have eternal value. That mission and clarity is between you and God alone!

HELP! I have an old homeschooling dad friend with a slew of kids, mostly grown, who lost his dear wife to cancer a number of years ago. A few months back he was also diagnosed with cancer. On the day of learning this news, his home burned down and his insurance had lapsed. I am not making this up. It is a modern story of “JOB”. His family started a go-fund me page and I would be grateful if my “friends “ would help this godly family rebuild. My friend is Ed Simon and they live near Milltown, Indiana. Look them up on the “Go-Fund Me” site or write a check to ED SIMON and send it to me at 605 Buck Creek Valley Road, Corydon IN 47112. Also - if you know how to lay large heavy oversized foundation weight block and want to volunteer your time, they could use the help. They would have started that business they were dreaming about, taken that job with another company, or moved to the countryside with their family to start a new life. FREE ADVICE FROM OLD MAN BAILEY TO YOUNG MEN IN A DATING RELATIONSHIP: “WHEN TO RUN”. Run when your girlfriend is not going to church, serving others in a ministry, lacks respect for her parents, treats her siblings poorly, and doesn’t think it is important to witness the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. Run if she says a couple of kids is all she wants. Run if she wants a career and thinks it is okay to send your kids to daycare. Run if she is not willing to bring your parents (or her parents) into your home when they are really old and need the help. Run if she is critical of your crazy ideas and dreams. And lastly, RUN if you are not a godly man now and she still likes you!

ALL FATHERS ARE NOT PERFECT, EXCEPT GOD THE FATHER: We live, even in the CHURCH, in a SNOWFLAKE era where a lot of young adults hold their dads in contempt because of mistakes they made in the raising of their children. These snowflakes blame their dads for everything, don’t respect anything they did right, and see no need to forgive, forget, or to mend broken relationships. That is sad! And it is unbiblical. The TRUTH: FORGIVENESS IS REQUIRED, HONORING YOUR FATHER IS REQUIRED, AND SHOWING LOVE IS REQUIRED. If you are holding out forgiveness because your father has not yet reached the level of remorse you require, you will NEVER find peace with God who promises forgiveness for you if you find forgiveness in your heart to forgive others.

NOT ONE OF MY BOYS WAS IN LITTLE LEAGUE: My sons never boarded a school bus (we homeschooled). I taught them how to work hard at home. They were always there for family dinner and family bible time. Success was measured in service, not in achievement. Today, in the group before you from left to right, there is a Navy chaplain and former Marine officer, a Louisville firefighter and reconnaissance Marine, a musician and studio owner, a Louisville firefighter and Marine, a nurse, and a Louisville firefighter and accomplished carpenter. All are committed Christians. Three have already built their own homes and the fourth will start next year. My advice: GET YOUR KIDS OUT OF SPORTS AND GET THEM PREPARED FOR LIFE!

OKAY, THIS SOUNDS LIKE BRAGGING, BUT MY INTENT IS TO GIVE GLORY TO GOD AND THANK HIM FOR ALLOWING MY 69-year-old BODY TO STILL DO THE WORK THAT I LOVE! By God’s grace I just finished laying hundreds of stones on a foundation that holds an 1800s barn. I worked alone and made over forty loads of “mud” in a stock tank by myself. I know I have a shelf-life, but NOT TODAY! Be in a state of constant thankfulness for whatever it is that you can still do. And always remember that the skills you seem to possess are gifts from God.
