CGB has been an innovative and progressive leader in the grain and transportation industries since 1969. Today, CGB operates a global enterprise overseeing a diverse family of businesses. We provide an array of services for grain farmers, from buying, storing, sel

ling and shipping of the crop, to financing and risk management. Natural extensions have included soybean processing and fertilizer products. Moving these agricultural products from farmer to market created a demand for safe and efficient transportation and logistics, which resulted in the development of Consolidated Terminals and Logistics (CTLC). CTLCโ€™s operation has expanded to a global base of customers who need transportation solutions using truck, rail and barge. The combination of our assets provide a growing organization that is over 50 years strong!

Itโ€™s a day that doesnโ€™t ask for much, just time to remember that the rhythm of everyday life exists because others were willing to give up theirs. Not in theory, but in reality. Not someday, but when it mattered most.

Itโ€™s worth sitting with that for a moment. To recognize the cost without trying to simplify it. To be grateful without needing to say it perfectly.

However the day is spent, thereโ€™s value in taking a quiet minute, one where we remember, in our own way, the people behind the freedoms often taken for granted.

That kind of remembrance matters.

Weโ€™re excited to continue investing in the future of agriculture at Mount Vernon and grateful for the long-standing relationship we share with the Ports of Indiana.

This expansion strengthens our ability to serve farmers, improve efficiency, and help move Midwest grain to domestic and global markets for years to come.

Thank you to the Ports of Indiana team, the Mount Vernon community, and the state, local, and Congressional leaders who joined us in support of agriculture, infrastructure, and rural growth. Weโ€™re excited for whatโ€™s ahead.

Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. (CGB) broke ground May 19 on its $47 million expansion project at the Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon, designed to triple grain handling capacity of CGBโ€™s soybean processing operations.

The expansion includes new grain storage and truck unloading facilities, as well as a conveyor system that transfers grain between multiple sites at the port on the Ohio River.

The project will increase the facilityโ€™s storage volume by 4.25 million bushels and boost truck unloading capacity by 200%. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.

CGB said its soybean volume at Mount Vernon has increased more than 60% over the past decade, driving the need for expanded capacity and improved truck flow.

Margins are tight, and the pressure is real. In this episode of the Farm4Profit Podcast, we sit down at Commodity Classic with Brett Strache from CGB Enterprises, Inc. and Mike Eubanks from AgriFinancial to break down what it actually takes to stay profitable in todayโ€™s farm economy.

This conversation goes beyond markets or finance alone. It is about building a complete farm strategy. From grain marketing discipline to managing working capital, we dig into the decisions that separate confident operators from stressed ones.

We cover what the grain markets are telling us right now, common mistakes farmers are making as margins tighten, and how emotion can quietly derail marketing plans. On the financial side, we unpack the warning signs showing up on balance sheets, from rising interest costs to equipment debt stacking.

You will also hear how producers are using decision making tools like loan calculators, ROI analysis on grain storage, and lease versus purchase strategies to stay flexible and protect liquidity.

If you are thinking about unsold grain, planning for next yearโ€™s crop, or just trying to make smarter financial decisions this season, this episode gives you practical insight from two experts working directly with farmers every day.

CGB recently joined industry peers at the National Grain and Feed Associationโ€™s 130th Annual Convention in Nashville, connecting around the ideas shaping our U.S. agriculture, transportation, and markets. These conversations reinforced the importance of resilient infrastructure, competitive transportation networks, and strong supply chain partnerships as our industry continues to adapt in a changing global landscape.

Key themes that emerged:
โ— The essential role of reliable, competitive transportation across rail, trucking, and inland waterways in keeping grain moving efficiently.
โ— Continued focus on infrastructure investment, particularly modernization of locks and dams, to support longโ€‘term domestic and export competitiveness.
โ— Ongoing operational pressures in trucking underscore the need for solutions centered on efficiency and productivity.

CGB values the insights gained through continued engagement with NGFA and remains committed to delivering reliable, marketโ€‘focused solutions that support our customers and the broader agricultural supply chain.

On National Ag Day, we celebrate those who advance American agriculture, and at CGB, we see that dedication up close every day. We see it in the farmer families showing up before sunrise to tackle the tasks that canโ€™t wait for daylight; in the teams across our facilities, logistics networks, and offices making sure grain moves, challenges get solved, and communities stay supported; and in the partners who stand shoulder to shoulder with us to keep this industry strong.

This day is a reminder of what truly drives agriculture: people with purpose, pride, and a commitment to the work behind every season. Your efforts are impactful in shaping our industryโ€™s future every day!

The 30th anniversary of the Commodity Classic has wrapped, and for our CGB and AgriFinancial teams, San Antonio was all about one thing: connection.

Our booth became a place for real conversations - giving us the chance to connect with farmers, families, and partners from across the U.S., Canada, and beyond to discuss tangible solutions for the 2026 growing season. Those discussions didn't stop on the trade show floor as Brett Strache joined the Farm4Profit podcast to share market insights (keep an ear out for the episode on March 16th!). The 2026 Classic proved that while the tools change, the goal remains the same: protecting the operation.

Weโ€™re coming home with renewed perspective and a sharper focus on helping producers protect their operations by combining strong relationships with clear, logic-driven information - continuing to elevate what on-farm commodity marketing support can look like.

At CGB, we are committed to contributing industry insight that helps shape the policies and investments needed to protect our supply chain and ensure a reliable inland waterway system. We are proud of the time and expertise our people bring to educating policymakers and advocating for practical, forwardโ€‘looking solutions.

We want to recognize CGB SVP, CTLC, Marine & Transportation Lance Rase, for his ongoing leadership and engagement with Waterways Council, Inc.. Recently, Lance joined WCI in Washington, D.C., to participate in critical discussions on aging locks and dams, responsible investment, and the longโ€‘term reliability of Americaโ€™s inland waterway infrastructure. These conversations play an important role in advancing policies that keep our industryโ€”and the nationโ€™s infrastructureโ€”moving forward.
