DIY mini split? This is exactly why line sets should never be kinked during installation. When copper refrigerant lines get pinched or kinked like this, it restricts refrigerant flow and can cause major performance issues including:
• Poor cooling/heating
• High system pressures
• Compressor damage
• Ice buildup
• Reduced efficiency
• Premature system failure
Once a line set is kinked badly enough, the copper is weakened and can even crack or leak over time. These systems may look simple online, but proper installation techniques matter.
Always take your time bending copper, use the correct tools, and avoid sharp bends. Sometimes saving money upfront can cost a whole system later.
If you’re installing a mini split, make sure it’s done right the first time 👍
