When we’re laying tile, especially large format over concrete, the real work starts before the first tile ever goes down. We take the time to install Schluter DITRA because concrete is always moving. It cracks, shifts, and does its thing. If you go straight over it, that movement eventually shows up in the tile.
DITRA gives the tile a buffer. It lets the slab move without transferring that stress upward and helps everything hold up the way it should.
Most people will never see what’s underneath, but we will. That’s why we do it.
