Project Highlight: A homeowner in Milton, GA was dealing with a 22-year-old HVAC system and a bad furnace heat exchanger. Rather than pay for an expensive repair, she chose to replace the whole system with a new Goodman 16 SEER two-stage AC and a 96% two-stage variable-speed furnace, plus new properly-sized MERV 11 filters. The upgrade helps control humidity, saves energy, and eliminates hot and cold spots around the house - and the whole job, from removal to a fully commissioned new system, took just one day. 678-845-6565 or https://www.emergencyhvac.org/projects/hvac-replacement-in-milton-ga - we're ready when your system needs an upgrade too. A real fall inspection is a documented list, not a quick look and a filter change. Our technicians check gas pressure and connections, burner combustion quality, the heat exchanger for cracks, the ignition system and flame sensor, the blower motor, and carbon monoxide levels at the unit itself.

Each of those items exists because it's a known failure point in a gas furnace, not a formality. Finding a weak flame sensor or a slightly elevated CO reading in October means a scheduled repair; finding the same issue in January usually means no heat on the coldest night of the year.

As fall settles in, now's the time to get ahead of heating season. A professional heating tune-up for your Alpharetta home checks the blower, heat exchangers, gas pressure, and more, catching small issues before they turn into a no-heat emergency. Skipping it can even void your system's warranty. Ready to schedule? Reach out at 678-845-6565 or emergencyhvac.org before the cold weather hits. Licensed - Georgia HVAC License .

Closing the vents in an unused room feels like it should save money, but a forced-air system doesn't produce less air just because fewer vents are open. The blower keeps moving the same volume of air; blocking outlets just raises pressure inside the ductwork and forces the system to work harder to push air out the vents that are still open.

Over time that extra strain shows up as higher energy use, not lower, and can shorten the life of the blower motor. The system is designed to be balanced across every vent in the house, and the better move is asking about a zoning system if certain rooms genuinely need less conditioning.

Project Highlight: Three rooftop HVAC units at a commercial space in Alpharetta, GA were over 20 years old and failing in multiple ways - grounded compressors, leaking coils, bad blower motors, and an outdated controls system still running on Windows XP. After repeated service calls, the property owner decided it was time to replace all three units and upgrade the controls. Our team swapped all three rooftop package units in a single day, with the controls upgrade completed the following week. The space is now comfortable and ready to lease. Carbon monoxide has no smell, no color, and no warning of its own, which is exactly why it's not something we wait to get asked about. Every furnace visit includes a combustion analysis, checking CO levels right at the source instead of relying on a detector alone to catch a problem after the fact.

It's a habit built from the data: accidental CO deaths tied to home heating equipment climb every fall and winter, and most trace back to a system that was already showing signs before anyone noticed. Catching it during a routine visit is what keeps it routine.

A gas furnace heats your home without ever mixing the air you breathe with the exhaust it produces, and that separation is the whole point of the heat exchanger. Combustion happens inside a sealed set of metal tubes; house air flows around the outside of those tubes and picks up the heat, then the blower pushes it through the ductwork.

That barrier is also why a technician checks the heat exchanger every single visit. Metal expands and contracts every time the system cycles, and over years that stress can open a crack, which is the one failure point that turns a heating system from a comfort appliance into a safety issue.
