"Data centers" is a big buzz phrase these days, but how do these large power users impact electric cooperatives? Would one locating in a co-op's territory in Montana be a positive or negative for members? Our panel of electric cooperative managers tackle that topic in this month's Rural Montana.

How will data centers impact co-ops? Every other month we ask our electric co-op manager panel a question, many of which are provided by our readers. Our panel consists of Pat Patterson,...

Each summer Glacier Electric Cooperative sponsors two students to attend the Electric Cooperative Washington D.C. Youth Tour. This week long all-expense paid trip to D.C. helps our local students learn more about not only the history of our great nation, but also how our political system functions today. The youth tour is a wonderful opportunity for our young leaders to bring home knowledge and a broader world-view to help improve our own community. Students are chosen to attend the youth tour based on their application and essay. Each year a specific essay topic is chosen for all applicants. GEC encourages all local sophomores and juniors to compete for their chance to enjoy this amazing experience next summer.

Glacier Electric is continuing the work on the West end of our service territory. We apologize for the interruption in service but we are changing out poles to ensure better service. The outage will be from the west side of Glacier Acres (aka slippery bill area) to summit. Power will be off from 9:00AM-1:00PM for this area.
The Glacier Acre area will experience blinks of service at 9AM and at 1PM for 5-15 minutes.
We thank you for your patience. We ask that all members update their phone numbers, we do make calls before planned outages to let members know. However, we are finding most of the phone numbers in our system are outdated or no longer working.

Starting Monday, September 15th, we will be conducting drone surveys along our mountain-front power lines. The work will begin in the Babb area on Monday and move south toward the Heart Butte Area by Wednesday.
Drone footage helps our linemen access areas not reachable by vehicle to identify potential repair needs.
Pleases exercise caution and stay clear of our drone and workers.
