NEW! Inspection Authorization Renewal in IACRA

I copied the below message from the IACRA “What’s New” on the IACRA page today. Just reading it indicates you may start the process of IA renewal now but the system will NOT be turned on to process the IA renewal application until March 1, 2023, is what I was told today from the FAA.

Applicants may now apply for their Inspection Authorization renewal. This application path is now available for current IA holders as an alternative to mailing in a paper copy. Click here for Help and Info on this application process. IACRA Version 10.6.2

This release contains the following changes:
• In the medical certificate section of the application for Ground Instructors, the text was changed to indicate that BasicMed is not required for this certificate type.
• Text changes were made to the Inspection Authorization Letter
• If an Aviation Safety Inspector or Technician were to return an Inspection Authorization application back to the applicant, IACRA now includes contact information and a link that opens an email with the applicant's email address.
• There was a misspelling in the Conditions of Issuance section of the temporary certificate that was corrected in this release.

I would recommend all IA download the PDF file and read through it before attempting to fill out the online form for renewal. As of this morning, there have been a lot of changes in the IACRA and DRS programs. IACRA required me to change my password if you have not logged in since last year. I had to contact the FAA to reset my password so I could change it. You may want to test your login and password to ensure it still works.
