Please join us in congratulating Matthew Ritchey on his promotion from Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager at Charters Brothers!

Matt joined our team in June 2025, shortly after earning his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Southern New Hampshire University. In just one year, he has made a tremendous impact, splitting time early between the field and office before excelling in a primarily office-based Project Engineer role.

A true go‑getter, Matt consistently asks how he can help and looks for opportunities to take on more responsibility. Most notably, he stepped into a critical role filling in as Project Manager on a key project, ensuring it continued to run seamlessly during a pivotal time for the company.

This promotion, just one year out of college, speaks volumes about Matt’s drive, capability, and commitment to growth. We’re excited to support him as he continues developing toward his long‑term goal of becoming a Project Manager. Congratulations, Matt, on this well‑earned next step in your career!

Charters Brothers is excited to announce construction is well underway on a new design-build project for Friends of the — a strategic addition and renovation that will expand capacity, improve operations, and enhance the level of care provided to animals in need.

The project includes a new ~1,200 sq. ft. addition featuring updated office and reception areas, dedicated feline and adoption rooms, an isolation suite, restrooms, and expanded support spaces including food prep, laundry, pantry, and a staff break room. It also introduces new surgery, treatment, and recovery rooms to strengthen the Shelter’s medical capabilities.

We’re also renovating ~2,000 sq. ft. of existing kennel space, delivering 18 new kennels with improved drainage, upgraded doors and enclosure systems, epoxy flooring, and refreshed lighting and finishes to create a cleaner, healthier environment for dogs.

Construction is being carefully phased to minimize disruption. Work began during the winter months—when kennel occupancy was lowest—and includes completing the new addition first so Shelter operations can temporarily shift while the existing building is renovated.

Ben joined our team on April 29, 2019, and recently marked 7 years with the company. Over that time, he’s proven to be an incredibly dependable team member—someone we can always count on. What began as a general labor role has grown into leadership in project supervision, safety oversight, and team support across our job sites.

Ben’s commitment to doing things the right way doesn’t go unnoticed. In 2024, he earned our Excellence in Safety Award, and most recently stepped up as Project Safety Officer on the Sage Portsmouth Condominium project.

With his drive, growth mindset, and clear goals toward the Superintendent track, we’re excited to see where the next chapter takes him. Congratulations on this well‑earned promotion, Ben—we’re lucky to have you on the team!

It feels like last week, but it was actually last month that our team took a break from the office and hit the slopes at Loon Mountain for Employee Appreciation Day, or, as we decided to call it… our 1st Annual Ski & Snowboard Day.

The temperature was ideal, the snow was fresh, and the laughs were abundant. It was great to step away from the job site and spend time together as a team. Outings like this remind us that strong teams aren’t just built at work—they’re built through shared experiences.

Thanks again to our incredible team for helping us start a tradition that will bring us together for years to come.
