Dirt, dirt, and more dirt! Site grading is underway at Sayers Park for Des Moines Parks and Recreation. One of the largest Des Moines Park upgrades, this project includes a massive stormwater collection and detention system with a bioswale, 20,000 square feet of parking lot and sidewalk, 2 large playground structures, and of course, a new splash pad. The Mississippi River Museum team successfully pushed to have the exterior of the otter exhibit completed this fall and prepared for COST of Wisconsin to begin their rockwork. Over 26,000 pounds of rebar and 11,000 square feet of EFCO formwork was set in order to get the walls built.

Over the next month, the team will move to the inside of the building to complete the new reptile and mussel exhibit, rebuild a relocated aquarium, assist Museum staff in building a new trout stream exhibit, as well as install new carpet in the atrium that mimics the Mississippi river. When walking through the museum, be sure to give a shout out to anyone in a blue hard hat. They definitely deserve it!

Vote YES for splash pads.

A major milestone was hit yesterday for The Sunnyside Park project. Even with terrible weather and mud, the team pushed through to get water flowing on the splash pad for the first time.

Henley Group employees have been hitting major milestones on projects across the state of Iowa. Shades have been completed in the courtyard of Arcadia in West Des Moines, playgrounds have been completed at Lincoln Elementary School, and at the Mississippi River Museum, the otter walls and pool construction have begun. Trellis framing has been completed, Aviary footings have been placed in the basement and the new reptile exhibit room is over halfway complete. Stay tuned to watch these exhibit walls climb as high as 21' over the next two weeks!

While most along the Mississippi River have moved to higher ground, The Henley Group is digging down at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, working on the Museum's "Preserve the Wonder" campaign. This two-phase project includes renovating a beaver exhibit into a new driftless aviary, structural, mechanical, and architectural upgrades, new reptile exhibits and trout stream construction, relocating an aquarium display, and the feature scope; a massive expansion to the habitats of Tom and Becky, the Museum's adorable river otters. While the site is not much larger than a postage stamp, we can't be more excited to be a part of these major upgrades to an already beautiful building.

Tomorrow our friends at the City of Davenport Government will be opening the Dohse Splash and Play Park to the public. The site, formerly an old and dilapidated pool, has been re-vamped into a new splash pad and playground for the West End community. This will without a doubt go down as one of Henley's marquee park projects with the the team battling through three brutal seasons of weather during construction to stay on schedule. And not to mention the gorgeous Pour-In-Place Rubber throughout the playground bringing the whole park together!

Henley Group Carpenters have done an extraordinary job pressing forward with the wood framing at the new McDonald's site in Moline, Illinois. All exterior walls were set in less than 4 days, allowing roof trusses to be set later this week and opening up the MEP work. A major shout out to the team onsite that is emphasizing "skill" in skilled craft.

After 5 months of planning and 8 months of construction, we are less than 2 weeks from the opening of the new Starbucks in Newton, IA. Couldn't be prouder of the Sieverding team for pushing through to get this one wrapped up!
