The University of Iowa Driving Safety Research Center Boiler Replacement project is nearing completion with the installation of the 3rd and final boiler. With all major equipment now set, the team is finishing final tie ins, testing, and closeout to bring the system fully online.

This phased replacement approach allowed the facility to remain operational while improving reliability, efficiency, and long term performance. Careful planning, coordination, and ex*****on were critical to keeping the project moving safely and on schedule.

Strong collaboration across the field and project teams made this one run smooth from start to finish. Proud of the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into delivering another critical infrastructure upgrade.

Another clean milestone at the Ely Main Street Legacy project. The team installed the large diameter storm piping that will move major roof runoff safely and efficiently away from the building.

Storm systems like this do not get much attention, but they are critical to long term performance. Large pipe, long runs, tight elevations and precise routing all have to line up or the whole system struggles. The crew knocked it out with accuracy and a clean layout that makes future maintenance straightforward.

Strong work from the field team as this project keeps moving forward.

The ABC Craft Championships challenge competitors through rigorous written and hands on components that test technical skill, problem solving, and performance under pressure.

LeSane’s Second Place finish reflects the craftsmanship, discipline, and professionalism he brings to the field every day. This achievement highlights his dedication to the trade and the consistent effort required to perform at a high level.

Hometown Mechanical is proud to support the Kirkwood Hall Renovation at Kirkwood Community College with the installation of ClimateMaster water source unitary heat pumps. These systems provide efficient, reliable comfort while supporting long term energy performance for an academic environment that demands consistency and durability.

Strong coordination, clean installation, and attention to detail made this phase of the project a success.

Hometown Mechanical is making strong progress at the Ely Main Street Legacy project. The team recently wrapped up the domestic water piping in the mechanical room, including (14) individual water meters feeding the new tenant spaces.

This setup looks simple in a photo, but it takes planning, coordination and tight installation to make a multi meter layout this clean. Clear labeling, accurate routing and future friendly access are all built into the design.

Proud of the crew for delivering quality work that sets this project up for long term reliability. More updates to come as the building continues to take shape.

Earlier this fall, our team installed the in floor heating system at the Linn County Secondary Road Department Headquarters. The tubing was laid out clean and consistent, ensuring even heat distribution across the slab and setting the foundation for a highly efficient heating system.

Work like this becomes part of the building forever, so precision matters — spacing, routing, and manifold connections were all coordinated carefully before the concrete was placed.

Proud of the work that the crew put into this phase as the project continues to move forward.

Phase 1 of this boiler replacement project is wrapping up at the University of Iowa Driving Research Facility. The first two boilers have been removed and replaced, and the system is operating smoothly. We are now moving into Phase 2, where the final boiler will be upgraded.

The team has done solid, disciplined work from planning through installation, keeping the project on schedule and maintaining a high standard of quality.

Big congratulations to Tel Moeller from Hometown Mechanical for earning the silver medal in Plumbing at the ABC National Craft Championships in Las Vegas.

Tel showed the same craftsmanship, discipline and pride he brings to the field every day. His success is a reflection of his work ethic along with the training from his mentors.

We are incredibly proud of Tel for representing Hometown Mechanical and our trade on the national stage. This is a well deserved milestone.

Hometown Mechanical took the top spot at this year’s ABC Sporting Clays Shoot, with our team of Ryan Webster, Kyle O Day and Kolton O Day bringing home 1st place.

This event pulls in talented crews from across the region, and our guys showed up with the same focus, discipline and teamwork they bring to the job every day.
