Someone once said to me that James Alexander Way is a picture perfect postcard street. Quiet, yet close to everything that Davidson has to offer, including our historic downtown and Davidson Elementary School.

Now, two homes that we built on this street are on the market. Very different sizes and price points, but both lovely and waiting for that buyer who is seeking a true community that is something to write home about.

One of the Homes we built on James Alexander Way in Davidson is coming on the market soon. In my opinion, the "competition" for this home are some new construction homes a couple of blocks away. They are brand new and maybe their finishes are a bit fancier.

But here's the differences in my mind: you can get one of the new homes and live on a busy street with all of the attendant noise from the street, or go over a block and live on James Alexander Way where the noises are birds chirping or owls hooting. You can get one of the new homes and literally be on top of your neighbors and have basically no private backyard, or you can be on James Alexander Way and have a large backyard that backs into a wooded area that will never be developed.

James Alexander Way is a five minute walk from downtown, and a three minute walk to the K-8 school. Beautiful homes, great sense of community, and very peaceful.

Don't get me wrong, the other homes are very nice. But, I truly believe that James Alexander Way is the nicest street in Davidson. I hate to see these neighbors go because we love them, but our loss can be your gain.

We sadly lost one of our best workers this week. Mick was the supervisor of the framing crew we've used for the past 15 years. A week ago Saturday he was in a motorcycle accident and he passed away this week.

Mick worked hard, and was very good at all aspects of construction. He was a good family man. He also loved motorcycles, whether it was one of his newer Harleys, or a decades old bike that he was restoring. I believe he was on his 1946 motorcycle when he was in the accident.

Mick bestowed the nickname "Hollywood" on me. Not sure why. He was always fun to be around.

We will definitely miss his skills and mostly his friendship. If there's a highway in the sky, I'm sure he's on it.

We are finishing up a fun project on the lake in Denver, converting a storage space over a garage into a living space which includes a full bathroom.

There are still a couple great finishing details to come, including a suspended glass and metal partition and ceiling mounted mirrors, but we wanted to share these photos of the almost finished space. It turned out great.

One of the first signs of spring are when the cherry trees start to bloom. Several years ago John Marshall Custom Homes funded and participated in the planting of about 30 cherry (and a few oak) trees in the historic Westside Terrace neighborhood in Davidson. We look forward each year to seeing the continued beauty of these trees, especially when the cherry trees bloom.
