Proud to share that Momtanu is now Dr. Chakraborty!
Last week, Momtanu successfully presented her dissertation on advancing remote sensing for almond production, developing tools to monitor nutrients from individual leaves to full canopies, and forecasting yield.
Momtanu was one of the most active and engaged PhD students, not just in the lab, but across the entire department.
While we’ll certainly miss having her around day-to-day, I am incredibly proud of all she’s accomplished and excited to see what she takes on next.

Big congratulations to Dr. Sirapoom Peanusaha
Poom just defended his PhD dissertation after four intense, focused, and impressively efficient years.
His work tackled one of the big challenges in remote sensing for agriculture: how to make analytics more reliable and consistent?
He focused on vineyard health, developing tools to better monitor vine traits such as nitrogen and other nutrients/biochemicals.
From undergraduate to PhD in four years, and now officially a doctor. We might need to install speed limits in the lab.
