Our COVID-19 Survey for Workers is still open. If you’ve been working during this pandemic, are unemployed or are now doing your job remotely, we’d like to invite you to participate in this study by following the link: https://environmentalhealth.ucdavis.edu/research/covid-19/workers-survey

The purpose of the research is to better understand how this disaster has affected your job, workplace and home life. Our Center collaborates with unions, workers centers, agencies and nonprofits to help identify the health impacts and unmet needs of communities. What we learn will help employers and policymakers implement changes to ensure workplaces are safer.

This survey averages about 15-20 minutes to complete. All the information collected will be kept confidential and stored on secure servers at UC Davis. This research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and recruiting nationwide.

Viruses don't discriminate or care what country we're from and whether or not we have papers to live and work where we do. Ultimately, we're all safer when the most vulnerable among us are, too. It's good to see agencies, community groups and local governments trying to ensure and communities are healthy for all. A landmark initiative in California is taking vaccines to the fields, targeting an immigrant work force that is at high risk for Covid-19. Many of the workers are undocumented, raising questions about whether they should have priority.

UC Davis Health doctors say wildfires are likely to increase the risk of and worsen symptoms if contracted. The cells along the airway form a natural barrier to viruses that protect the lining of the lungs. These cells weaken when a person inhales the fine particles associated with wildfires and air pollution (PM2.5). There's no research yet specifically on COVID-19 and wildfires, but there are studies on and other respiratory illnesses that can help us understand and be better prepared now and for future .

One of the culprits is microscopic particulate matter called PM2.5.

Hi All, ***Facebook only allows us to make two posts about our survey per day, so your help in sharing this information is needed.*** Here's an update on study participation this week: 706 people have started the Survey for Workers and 320 have finished it. All states except Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming have participated across a wide range of occupations. If you know people in those states please share the survey link with them! Our long-term goal over the next 6 months is to enroll 10,000 people in this study, so we need your help to hit that number. Remember: The bigger the data, the stronger the science. Please share this link: https://is.gd/COVID19WorkerSurvey
