New job - carpenter at GoldWing Construction in Edmonton, Alberta.

We had to relocate a toilet about 6” because of installing a new low step shower. Code requires 15” clearance between fixtures and center of toilet.

Asbestos abatement team opened the bulkhead. Plumber disconnected old toilet plumbing. Concrete core guys bored new hole. Plumber re-routed drain.

I added a steel plate to cover the hole, filled them both with fire resistant insulation, fire caulked the plate (2nd picture), then built a new bulkhead (3rd-5th pictures) and patched the floor from above.

Oftentimes in remodeling we know what we’re getting into.
Sometimes in remodeling we find unexpected problems.
Today was the later.
We were not planning on doing anything under the kitchen sink, but when we find something like this, it requires attention.
The old drain pipe was also nearly 100% clogged with debris and rust. Thing should work much better now.

Projects look so much better when wrapped up. Today was a long day of grout, putting baseboards back, cleaning up, and putting the furniture back (no pictures of that).

It’s a work in progress, but here are some pictures of the tile floor I’ve been installing.

Grout and baseboards tomorrow, then time to move furniture back into the room.

Sometimes I get the pleasure of doing the fun and beautiful things.

Helped install these exotic hardwood floating shelves at World Traveler Coffee Roasters new Folsom location.

It’s a blessing being part of the California Dream Construction crew.
