Some things old and some things new. The first project that we performed as Ludlow Construction in 2013 was installing new wood trim as part of the renovation of the fellowship hall at , my home church. We now have the pleasure of returning to construct a timber frame shelter house.

Those of us who have seen the unbelievable framing of the original 1899 structure from inside the attic will notice that the steel gusseted timber trusses of this shelter house are the exact type used in the roof system of the original part of the church, built by George Geuy. The foundation for this shelter house was built by his great grandson, Steve. Steve’s father Boots is one of the most visionary and talented craftspeople that has ever touched this industry, and the influence that he and the Geuy family have had on the craft through shared knowledge and leadership is almost impossible to fathom, centered out of such a small community in rural Ohio. My first construction experience was working for The Geuy Construction Co under the leadership of Boots, Steve, and Jerry Geuy in 1996.

It was also a pleasure to have Brandon Schwyn of Schwyn Construction & Remodeling back to assist here, as he did on our 2013 remodel. Such a talented craftsmen in his own right

Yesterday’s sunshine would sure be nice, but it’s always a great day to start building an old family friend’s dream home. With a lot of planning under our belt, it’s exciting to see the dirt move!
