This is a "Lean To" add on to an existing building, and is on gable end of the building. This is something that we get asked about fairly often, and when the building is spray foamed it is hard to get a leak free transition and you would be breaking the seal on the spray foam to cutting into the wall and underlap the trim. So what is the solution you ask? Die Form
On this build, we used "Die Form" trim to create this wall transition. The PRO to this style is that we are structurally independent to the original building and we are only attached via the trim. The CON to this design style is that it is reliant on silicon between the trim and the wall which in the long term will eventually lead to a leak. On a non livable/Unfinished space like this horse tie area, this is the best option available these days.
