SWE is very excited to be hosting Engineering Exploration Day this August 20th! This is an opportunity to partner with local students and share all that engineering has to offer. We are currently looking for student volunteers to help guide young girls in engineering based activities. Volunteers are subject to background checks and must complete the free safety training offered by UM-Deabrorn.

This year SWE is hosting "Get Your Pink On!", a week aimed to raise awareness of breast cancer and those that it has affected. We're hosting several exciting events such as raffles and walk-a-thons as well as our fundraiser dinner and silent auction. We'd really appreciate any donations to help us make this fundraiser as great as possible! 100% of funds raised at our events will benefit breast cancer patients.

On March 4th, from 8am to 10am, continental breakfast and networking will be held at Michigan Science Center, 5020 John R Street, Detroit MI 48202 by The STEMinista Project, an initiative launched in January to get girls intrested in STEM. The event will feature a panel of leaders from differrent STEM companies and will be moderated by news aanchor Christy McDonald. The keynote speaker will be major general Gwendolyn Bingham. The STEMinista Project is for girls in 4th through 8th grade, and offers special opportunities in STEM with girls in mind. We have the Valentines Day Flower Fundraiser approaching us on Thursday, February 11th. We will be selling flowers throughout the day from 9am to 5pm and will need at least two people at the event at all times. It will be taking place near the back door of the University Center closest to the Mardigian Library in the cafeteria.

If you are able to help even for an hour during this day, please reach out to Rachel Simms at [email protected] and let us know! This is an excellent opportunity to get involved and meet with other members, especially if you are unable to attend the General Meeting Wednesday, January 20th at 6pm.
