As we get into busy season and systems break down it is our companies continued priority to do things to the fullest and not just install boxes. The DOE is still reporting a mind boggling 65% of systems tested were installed incorrectly. Why is this a serious problem?
One reason is continued education is lacking in our industry as a whole. Educating is failing far to often in getting new techs the training they truly need. Leaving that to companies to fit the bill to properly train them even after schooling. To many have stayed we've been doing it this way for so long why should we change. Even my recently new tech experience 50% of his inspections have issues. He was even shocked at the volume of calls with systems not charged right.
Another big one as always is price. So many price work out of fear not out of value of what they bring to the table. Even the DOE acknowledge that taking the lowest price statically costs consumers millions in lost energy consumption, reduced lifespan and reduced comfort in the home.
Whether you use us or not always ask for a load calculation. My last 2 estimates I gave the systems were to big. So get a proper load calculation. Ask for a install commissioning report so that you know your getting the best work possible.
