Exciting progress is happening right here in Decatur! South Brook Phase 1 is officially underway! 🏗️

This is a unique project for our team at Pugh Wright McAnally and one we’re incredibly proud to be a part of. South Brook will transform the former Decatur Country Club property into an 80-acre, walkable community featuring homes, shops, restaurants, trails, green spaces, and places designed to bring people together.

Taking a property with this much history in Decatur and helping bring a new vision for its future to life is pretty special.

A lot of planning, coordination, and collaboration has gone into reaching this milestone. We’re grateful to Land Innovations for trusting PWM to be part of the team and thankful for the partnership of the Cook Family, City of Decatur, Decatur Utilities, and everyone involved in moving South Brook from plans on paper to construction on the ground.

With Phase 1 now underway, we’re excited to watch this new community begin to take shape and to be part of a project that will have an impact on Decatur for generations to come.

This project represents a major investment in the future of Hartselle—creating a space designed for learning, connection, arts, and community gatherings for generations to come.

Currently in the design phase, this facility will combine a modern library with a flexible event venue to serve the needs of the entire community.

Designed by our civil engineering team and developed as a Lennar community, Kenzie Meadows includes 84 residential lots and reflects the strong partnership between Lennar of Alabama, WCD, and Pugh Wright McAnally.

Projects like this are a reminder of what’s possible through collaboration, thoughtful planning, and a shared commitment to building communities that continue to grow and thrive. Last month, we had the honor of serving as a presenting sponsor for the Decatur Morgan Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 State of the City at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Decatur Riverfront through Pugh Wright McAnally.

The event brought together community leaders for an important look at the momentum shaping our region’s future. Mayor Kent Lawrence joined Wade Weaver for a conversation focused on economic investment, long-term planning, and the continued impact of growth across the city. Updates were also shared on public safety, youth services, parks and recreation, and the city’s financial outlook.

A meaningful part of the program included recognizing City Attorney Herman Marks for his 45 years of dedicated service to the City of Decatur.

We appreciate the Decatur Morgan Chamber of Commerce for hosting a strong and informative event, and we’re proud to support efforts that keep our community moving forward.

Launch 2026 is designed to give students real-world experience, mentorship, and career exposure in fields they’re passionate about — helping prepare the next generation for success beyond the classroom. 🚀

We’re proud to have Cassandra learning alongside our team with mentorship from Nathan Tomerlin as she explores the world of civil engineering and community development. From infrastructure to site design, we’re excited to give students a firsthand look at the impact engineering has on the communities we serve every day.
