Congratulations to Kirsti Fontenot on being named a Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge Award recipient! This year is her second year winning this award and we couldn't be more excited for her and Lomax Junior High.

Through inquiry-based learning and real-world science connections, Ms. Fontenot inspires students to explore, question, and think critically about the world around them. The award will provide valuable resources and equipment that will strengthen hands-on investigations and help prepare students for future success.

What a week! Our employees were out and about across the community, participating in a DPCAC discussion, attending the San Jacinto College PTEC/Crafts Career Fair, supporting the TCC Annual Luncheon, and talking with students at Deer Park ISD CTE about the importance of safety in electrical, welding, and construction careers. We're fortunate to have employees who are passionate about engaging with the community, sharing their knowledge, and helping inspire future generations. Thank you to everyone who took the time to represent us this week!

Congratulations to Ms. Pamela Swain on being chosen as this year's 2026 Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge Winner from Heritage Elementary- La Porte ISD.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of Ms. Swain’s science classroom. By encouraging students to investigate, ask questions, and explore real-world phenomena, she helps them develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. A lab upgrade would provide the resources needed to support more authentic, student-driven investigations and create even greater opportunities for collaboration, curiosity, and scientific discovery.

Today, Deer Park ISD State of the Schools event was held which highlighted a look at the progress, opportunities and future of education right here in our community.

From student exhibits showcasing the creativity and talent of Deer Park ISD students to insights from Dr. Tiffany Regan on the district’s accomplishments and priorities, it was a meaningful reminder of what is possible when our community invests in its students.

We’re especially proud to be a partner in that work. Congratulations to Deer Park ISD on a successful first State of the Schools event and to the students, educators and community partners who continue to make Deer Park a great place to learn and grow.

Congratulations to Ms. Summer Tsafantakis on being chosen as this year's 2026 Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge Winner from Fairmont Elementary.

Ms. Tsafantakis believes curiosity is the foundation of effective science learning, and students develop the deepest understanding when they actively engage in investigation. This lab upgrade will shift instruction from isolated, simulated activities to sustained, authentic investigations, helping transform the campus into a connected, data-rich environment where students experience science as an ongoing, real-world process.
