Last week, MWI Pumps was honored to welcome Keith E. Sonderling, Acting Secretary U.S. Department of Labor, to our Deerfield Beach, Florida headquarters as we celebrate 100 years of American manufacturing excellence.

As a fourth-generation, family-owned business, MWI Pumps has proudly designed and built high-performance water pumps in the USA for customers around the globe. During his visit, Secretary Sonderling met with our ownership team and executives, toured our manufacturing operations, and learned how policies that support working families and small businesses help companies like ours continue to grow, invest in our workforce, and expand opportunities for American workers.

We appreciate the opportunity to showcase the skilled men and women who make MWI Pumps successful and to highlight the importance of American manufacturing, innovation, and exports in driving economic growth both here in Florida and around the world.

As MWI Pumps celebrates 100 years of innovation and leadership, we’re continuing our “Faces of MWI” series with Daren Eller, Vice President of Operations. In a conversation with his brother, MWI President Dana Eller, Daren reflects on the early moments that shaped his path.

After a tough first semester in engineering school, Daren faced a choice and a challenge by his father David: change direction or push forward. That moment became a turning point fueling the determination to embrace the challenge and develop the problem-solving mindset that still drives him today.

Because engineering isn’t just a degree, it’s a way of thinking. A foundation for solving problems, leading teams, and building something that lasts.

As part of MWI Pumps’ 100th year of business, we’re proud to spotlight the people who have helped build our legacy. Dana Eller talks with Jeff Smith, Lead Service Technician, as he reflects on over 30 years of dedication, innovation, and service with MWI Pumps.

From rebuilding hydraulic pumps in the early days to helping grow the Rental Division into a national powerhouse, Jeff’s journey is deeply rooted in the company’s history and its future.

One moment that stands out is his work during the historic Midwest floods of 1993–1994. Jeff recalls mobilizing a long way with 24”, 30”, and 42” pumps, including trailer-mounted hydraulic units that could be deployed directly into the water. With ingenuity and grit, the team configured steel 24" piping into 45s and 90s to climb the levee pumping stormwater over and helping save critical infrastructure like Illinois roadways.

“That was one of the great jobs we did,” Jeff reflects. This is just one example of the resilience and problem-solving mindset that defines MWI Pumps.

Over the decades, Jeff has seen it all: from visionary leaders like John Springer, who built the Rental Division “from nothing to something,” to the evolution of pump technology like the Primerite™ CT-Series. But what’s kept him here is simple… a strong team, meaningful work, and a company that values its people.

For Jeff, MWI Pumps isn’t just a job, it’s a legacy of loyalty, craftsmanship, and service.
