If you know someone who does not want to go to college immediately after high school, ask them if they would consider a job in construction. Some trades in Northern Illinois pay starting apprentices $20/hour. A high school diploma or GED, a passed aptitude test, and willingness to learn and work hard often are the only formal requirements!

As bids flow out of the office today, the glaziers in the field are busy at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn and a dialysis clinic in Chicago.

The last few days this week became busy with shop, field, and office work. The old Jane Fargo Hotel started getting new windows put in today! Tomorrow a dentist office in Naperville will have all its new glass doors completely installed. Saws and drills were heard during half the week in shop doing all the fabricating. Several bids came out of the office along with some more billings. We even had an unusual request for a piece of curved glass for an antique China cabinet-- different, but not beyond what we can do. The summer work season has begun....

Door hardware, shower doors, field measuring, and pre-bid meetings in the field this week. Since it is the end of the month, billing has kept the office busy along with bidding and project managing tasks. A large glass shipment for an elementary school was the most activity the shop saw this week-- thank Heavens for boom trucks and racks!

Shower doors, dentist office glass doors, and replacing a piece of glass at a dog treat store are among a few of the field projects this week. The shop has been somewhat quiet, except for a large delivery for the old Sycamore Hotel job. Office is busy with BILLING, ordering, and bidding!

Just cannot get enough of those shower doors this week... The shop has been quiet, the office has been busy getting ready for the school jobs by ordering, measuring, and paper work completion.
