The Delaware City Refining Company (DCRC) supports nearly 7,400 jobs in Delaware across engineering, operations, science, health, safety, environment, IT, finance, maintenance, administration, public relations, and medical fields.

Additionally, the refinery helps sustain millions of jobs locally and regionally in sectors such as restaurants, suppliers, and wholesalers, chemical companies, contracting, trades, transportation, and distribution.

DCRC is one of just four refineries still running on the East Coast and is the only one in Delaware. It supplies gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, heating oil, lubricants, and other important petroleum products to people and businesses from Maine to Florida.

The refinery employs 529 full-time staff and 171 contractors. Each DCRC employee is estimated to generate 11 additional jobs throughout the region. Beyond producing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, Delaware City contributes $1.6 billion to the U.S. economy, $189 million in federal taxes, and $𝟐𝟏𝟐 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐱𝐞𝐬. In 2025, DCRC partnered with 71 companies in New Castle County, including service and material suppliers, retailers, and food businesses, resulting in $23,339,632 in local spending.

Statewide, DCRC collaborated with 83 companies, with total in-state spending of $37,151,782.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Paulsboro Refining Company hosted a Refinery 101 class and a facility tour.

Attendees included new employees and summer interns from our parent company, PBF Energy, in Parsippany, as well as from Paulsboro (PRC) and Delaware City Refining (DCRC). Mark Schneewies, PRC Operations Manager, shared insights on the industry, the refinery’s century-long history in Paulsboro, and the vital role our products play in modern life.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Randi Licciardello, Lead Community and Government Relations Advisor for the Delaware City Refining Company (DCRC) and DCRC summer intern, Samantha Flynn, joined the first responders in Delaware City for their 3rd Annual National Night Out event.

The refinery handed out water and provided members of the community with a brochure about the refinery and the products they produce that make modern life possible. Copies of the brochure are available at the Delaware City Public Library.

The New Castle County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) met on Monday, July 13, 2026, for its regular bimonthly meeting. The committee took time to thank the sponsors of the 19th Annual Delaware Hazmat Training Workshop.

Mark Dolan, an organizer with the LEPC, the New Castle County Industrial Hazardous Materials Response Alliance, and the DNREC Accidental Release Prevention Program, explained that annual sponsorships ensure the event remains free for emergency personnel. Attendees represent the East Coast, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Puerto Rico.

The Delaware City Refining Company is an annual Titanium Sponsor for the event. Ron Dietrick, Superintendent of Emergency Response at Delaware City Refining Company, attended the meeting to accept the annual engraved plate for the recognition plaque displayed in the Refinery’s lobby.

Ron states, “Safety is at the heart of everything we do at the Refinery. We value the safety of our employees and our community, and the Refinery is a proud sponsor of this outstanding event.”
