The South Dakota Transportation Hall of Honor Committee recently selected June Hansen, Civil Rights Compliance Officer for the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) and Kari Karst, President / CEO of BX Civil & Construction as the 2026 inductees. The purpose of the Transportation Hall of Honor is to recognize those who have made a lasting, valuable, or unique contribution to South Dakota’s air, highway, public transit, or rail transportation system. With the addition of Hansen and Karst, the Hall of Honor, which originated in 1972, now includes 101 inductees.

Each inductee is being recognized at a banquet by the Transportation Hall of Honor Committee. The public is invited to attend to honor June Hansen and Kari Karst for their dedicated service to South Dakota’s public transportation system.

Today is a heartbreaking day for our community.

PINZ - Dell Rapids has been more than a restaurant—it has been a place where friends gathered, families celebrated, and memories were made.

At BX Civil & Construction, we have shared many great moments at Pinz through team events, office lunches, and meals with friends. It was a welcoming place that brought people together and became an important part of our community.

We are grateful for the memories and the impact Pinz has had on Dell Rapids over the years.

Our thoughts are with Casey, the Pinz team, and everyone affected by this loss.

Lincoln County Roundabout Progress Update! 🚧

We're making great progress on the new roundabout north of Lennox. These photos showcase the transformation from pre-construction, to grading work that widened the intersection, and most recently, the installation of curb and gutter.

Concrete paving is now underway, and we'll be sharing more updates and photos as the project continues to take shape. Stay tuned!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Their courage, service, and commitment to something bigger than themselves will never be forgotten. From all of us at BX Civil & Construction, thank you to those who served and to the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸

Our office will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day, with normal operations resuming Tuesday.

Work on the 256th Street box culvert is starting to wrap up with backfilling and riprap. Over the next couple of weeks we will finish the erosion control and fencing and open the road ahead of schedule. Our crews worked through a season of weather, both hot and cold over a few short weeks and handled it without skipping a beat. This four barrel 10’ x 8’ box culvert has 248.3 cuyds of concrete, 29,218 lbs of resteel all placed by hand and the end result will serve Minnehaha County for many decades to come. Thanks to our partners on this project which includes Brock Contracting on the demo and excavation work, Extreme Fencing, Sir-Lines-a-Lot on traffic control, Total Till on erosion control, Dells Materials Company Materials for ready mix concrete and Creekside Pumping LLC for concrete placement. Working with the Minnehaha County Highway Department and Civil Design Inc. has been a pleasure with professionalism on all facets of the project.
