We are roofers. We spend our days ON TOP of houses. So naturally, when we heard it was Picnic Day... we considered taking lunch up on the roof. 😂 (We didn't. Safety first. Always)

Hello neighbors, it's only Wednesday and it already feels like August. After Monday's storms swept through the Metroplex, temperatures have climbed fast:

🌡️ Dallas: 91°F today
🌡️ Fort Worth: 93°F
🌡️ Frisco & Denton: 91–92°F
🌡️ Waxahachie & Sherman: 89–92°F

And it's only going to get hotter, we are tracking 94–96°F by Thursday with lingering humidity. This is the part of the DFW summer cycle that nobody talks about: the heat after the rain is what does the real damage. Here's why:

USA 4, Paraguay 1. Historic. The USMNT just scored more goals in a single World Cup match than they ever have before. It was a rooftop moment if we have ever seen one. Hey neighbors, sharing some photos from a roof and gutter cleaning job we just finished because the before and after really tells the story.

Leaves and debris packed into the roof valleys had already started breaking down the shingles, you can see the torn shingles around the pipe jack in the photos. Wet debris sitting against shingles causes mildew and discoloration, and if it's left long enough it deteriorates the shingles completely.

The gutters were packed too, full of wet leaves that had made them heavy enough to start pulling away from the roofline, and completely clogged so rainwater had nowhere to go.

Here's something a lot of homeowners don't realize: when gutters can't drain properly, water pours straight off the roof edge and hits the ground right next to your house. That's what causes those trenches and ruts in the yard along the side of the house and near flower beds. It also affects your foundation over time.

After a spring like this one across North Texas, with all the rain and storm debris, it's worth taking a look at your gutters and roof valleys before summer heat bakes everything in.
