Hey neighbors, sharing some photos from a roof and gutter cleaning job we just finished because the before and after really tells the story.

Leaves and debris packed into the roof valleys had already started breaking down the shingles, you can see the torn shingles around the pipe jack in the photos. Wet debris sitting against shingles causes mildew and discoloration, and if it's left long enough it deteriorates the shingles completely.

The gutters were packed too, full of wet leaves that had made them heavy enough to start pulling away from the roofline, and completely clogged so rainwater had nowhere to go.

Here's something a lot of homeowners don't realize: when gutters can't drain properly, water pours straight off the roof edge and hits the ground right next to your house. That's what causes those trenches and ruts in the yard along the side of the house and near flower beds. It also affects your foundation over time.

After a spring like this one across North Texas, with all the rain and storm debris, it's worth taking a look at your gutters and roof valleys before summer heat bakes everything in.

We do free inspections across Denton County and all of North Texas. Happy to answer any questions here too! 🏑

May has been relentless this year! Severe storms. Large hail. Damaging winds. A Flood Advisory in Dallas County just this morning. And NWS Fort Worth says the unsettled pattern keeps going through the weekend.

Here's what we know after 48 years on North Texas roofs:

The homeowners who call us aren't usually the ones whose ceilings caved in. They're the ones who had a nagging feeling. Who noticed a few extra granules in the gutter. Who heard a drip that stopped and figured it was probably nothing.

If May left you with any version of that feeling, it's worth 30 minutes of someone's time to tell you whether that feeling is right or wrong.

That someone is us. Free inspection. Honest report. No pressure, no pitch, just a straight answer about what's on your roof.

We've been your neighbor across North Texas since 1976. Denton, Fort Worth, Dallas, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Wise County, and everywhere in between β€” if you're in our area and your roof went through May without being looked at, this week is your window before the weather possibly settles down.

Over The Top Roofing. 48 years.
One rule: do it like it's our own house.

New decking. New shingles. Brand new sealed pipe boot. Eviction complete.

If you have got trees close to your roofline and let's be honest, most of us in Denton County do, it's worth getting up there and checking your pipe boots and vents. Animals find the weak spots before you do.

We've seen it all. Give us a call today to set up a Free inspection.

North Texas, heads up!
The next 5 days are going to be active.

NWS Fort Worth just updated their forecast this morning and here's what we're looking at through May 24th across the DFW area and the 60-mile radius:

Today (Wed May 20) β€” Quieter day. A line of storms is still clearing out to the south but most of DFW sees a calmer afternoon. Good time to step outside and check your gutters and roof line before the next round.

⚑ Thursday May 21 β€” 75% chance of storms. Hail and damaging winds possible. This is the one to watch this week.

β›… Friday May 22 β€” Partially clearing, 25% chance. Warmer, mid-80s.

⚑ Saturday May 23 β€” 75% chance of storms again. Another active day with hail potential.

⚑ Sunday May 24 β€” 75% chance. Active pattern continues through the weekend.

That's three days out of the next five with 75% storm probability. In North Texas in late May, that means hail, wind, and roof damage and a lot of homeowners who won't realize they have a problem until the next heavy rain finds it.

Here's what we want you to know before Thursday hits πŸ‘‡

πŸ”΄ Hail damage doesn't always leak right away. It weakens the shingle underneath, strips granules, and creates vulnerabilities that show up weeks later, sometimes after the insurance filing window has started closing.

🏒 Commercial roofs need attention too. Flat and low-slope roofs (TPO, torch-down) are especially vulnerable to standing water and membrane damage after repeated storm cycles. If you manage a property and haven't had it inspected this season, this week is the time.

🏠 Residential homeowners: if your home is 10+ years old and hasn't been inspected since the last major hail event, you may have damage you don't know about. We see it every week.

We are Over The Top Roofing, family owned and operated right here in Denton, TX since 1976. That's nearly 50 years of roofing in North Texas. Kevin Gagliardi has personally overseen thousands of roofing projects across the DFW area and we hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Good morning, Denton County. β›ˆ

If you stepped outside this morning and felt that heavy air β€” yeah. Here it comes.

NWS Fort Worth is tracking a 75% storm chance today with the potential for severe weather, hail and damaging winds are both on the table as this cold front pushes through. More storms are expected Tuesday and Wednesday before things finally settle down Thursday.

Here is the honest truth after 48 years of North Texas spring seasons:

The homeowners who call us in August wishing they had called sooner are almost always the ones who went through a stretch like the last few weeks and figured their roof looked okay from the driveway. It usually doesn't look okay from up top.

We have had back to back storm weeks across Denton, Wise, Tarrant, and Parker counties. If your roof took any of that and hasn't been looked at, today is a good reminder that the next round is already here.

We are booking free inspections this week across Denton County and the full DFW Metroplex. We come out, climb up, take photos, and tell you exactly what is up there. Good news or bad, you will know. And if there is insurance damage, we handle the claim from start to finish. You won't fight the adjuster alone.

Stay safe today, neighbors. 🏑

Texas summer has entered the chat. πŸ₯΅πŸŒ‘️
It was 66Β° this morning. It's about to be 90Β°.
No transition. No warning. Classic North Texas.

Survival tips from people who have been on Denton County rooftops in this heat since 1976:

πŸš— Park in the shade. Your entire day depends on this.

❄️ Your AC is about to become your best friend, your biggest expense, and the thing you're most scared to lose.

🌬️ Here is something most homeowners don't think about, proper roof ventilation. We install turbines, dead air vents, and power vents on your roof to pull hot air out of the attic.

Cool the attic β†’ cool the house. It's that simple. And here is the part nobody talks about: a properly ventilated attic doesn't just lower your electric bill, it keeps your ceilings from cracking, your walls from cracking, and protects your foundation. Heat and trapped air destroy a house slowly and quietly. The right vents stop that before it starts.

πŸ‘·πŸ‘‰ Check your roof. Heat cycles, 90Β° days to cool nights and back, crack shingles, lift flashing, and age your roof faster than anything else in North Texas. A free spring inspection before summer fully lands saves a lot of August surprises.

πŸ‚ Survive until October when Denton is perfect again.

We are Out There. We have always been out there. 🏑πŸ”₯

Hey Denton County neighbors,
checking in after one heck of an April. πŸ‘‹

If your neighborhood felt the April 28th storms, you are not imagining it. Golf ball to 3 inch hail hammered western Fort Worth and parts of Arlington and southwest Dallas. Severe thunderstorm warnings covered Denton, Tarrant, Wise, and Parker counties. And just three days earlier, an EF-2 tornado tore through Runaway Bay in Wise County. It's been a rough stretch for North Texas.

πŸ”† The good news: this week starts calm. Warm and sunny today through Tuesday. 🌀

πŸ›‘ The heads up: a slow moving front moves in Tuesday night into Wednesday with another round of storms possible β€” NWS Fort Worth says a few could turn severe.

Two things worth doing this week:
πŸ‘‰ Get your roof looked at before Wednesday if you haven't since April 28th
πŸ‘‰ Know where your insurance card is β€” just in case

We are Over the Top Roofing, Kevin and the team have been on North Texas roofs since 1976. Free inspections, no pressure, straight honest answer about what's up there.

Stay safe this week, neighbors.
