Great Lunch & Learn today with our RPLSs Matt Raabe and Patrick Mallon leading a discussion for the Eagle Surveying drafting team.

The conversation covered far more than legal descriptions. Drawing from decades of surveying experience, Matt and Patrick walked through the history of Texas land surveying, the origins of Spanish and Mexican land grants, abstract surveys, metes and bounds descriptions, boundary intent, easement descriptions, and practical approaches to writing clear and defensible legal descriptions. They also shared lessons from their careers and emphasized the importance of consistency, historical research, and understanding the ""why"" behind how we survey and document property boundaries today.

Opportunities like this sharpen our team's technical knowledge and improve the quality of our work. There's no substitute for learning from people who have spent decades doing it.

Before the demolition crews show up, you need to know exactly what's there.

Our Reality Capture and General Survey divisions teamed up to deliver an ALTA, topographic and tree survey for a redevelopment site in Melissa, Texas. Drone-based LiDAR and photogrammetry captured the full site alongside conventional fieldwork. We provided the design team with orthomosaic imagery, point cloud data, and detailed topo mapping before existing structures are removed.

Capturing this data now means the project moves forward with a complete baseline.

This spring, our team had the opportunity to attend career fairs at Guyer High School, Denton High School and Lagrone Academy.

We enjoyed meeting students, answering questions, and sharing how surveying plays a role in the projects being built all around them.
