Between working more than full time and, up until very recently, dealing health issues that have drained any extra energy, I have not been able to spend as much time as I'd like on this content. [Stainless Movement PT 7.1 - Weld Order Examples] I wanted to show two scenarios where there are variables to think about when the welding is not uniform and you are welding without clamps/braces. I also want to show it is possible to pull something back if you miss-calculate how to pull something on purpose. I purposfully change up what I do to see if I can save time and still accomplish the same outcome. Sometimes it does not alway work out the way I imagined. That is just how stainless is. ÷)

I did forget to mention in example one that I let the first three welds completely cool before I welded the fillet.

My first fabrication project outside of my regular fabrication work! This is for my tattoo artist ben merrell . He showed me a swing arm tray another tattooer made and we changed up the design from that example. It is mounted on the underside of the wood adjustable tabletop so he can have additional height adjustment. I added a tilt to help him counteract the slight sag it will have when fully extended out. Painted with automotive wheel paint which was a lot of fun to apply. I found the white nylon washers in black right after I recieved them of course. 🤣

Above all, it is an amazing feeling to be able to use your skillset to help someone else who uses their skillset to help you. Please check his work out!! He has done the majority of my tattoos (chest, back, sleeve, head).

It still has not hit yet. So cool things are happening!! If you didn't see my story, I was chosen along other amazing artists to display my submitted art concept for this year's first Fabtech art booth. The only clues I will give are that it is trippy and I am using a material effect I posted about on my welding handle stories. Big shoutout to Stacia at EDGE Welding Cups for starting Metal Artist Collective and helping to add more art to this gathering. I am really excited and honored to be in the first group. I have a road trip around the corner and can now spend that screen time designing how the mechanism will work.

Pressing my new fancy stamp into my first paid weld art hit differently... Not only was this a great reminder to hard work paying off, it took a good wack at my lingering imposter syndrome. I have been struggling to getting my mind into working on creative projects and I can tell this year will reverse that. I have more pieces lined up and am excited to try out my new Edge number 18 cup and perfect this artform!!! ÷)

[Stainless Movement Series - Part 5] The best advice I can give is to play around and start to gain first hand experience on how this material likes to move. It took many tries for me to start to accurately guess how much to back weld. Alsp, start slow at first so you can gradually warp something versus welding too much at first and having to counter correct. I had to edit this video down to three minutes, so some of what I am trying to say maybe a little choppy.

Stainless Pulling Part 3 - How time between your welds can help you. I have no idea why the "old stainless fully cool" coupon pulled in the opposite direction than the others. One thing is for sure, old stainless is stubborn. 😂

Next up - I want to show how you can back weld and pull stainless the way you need it to move.
