Happy Mother’s Day to the one we all share. 🌎💚

The mountains, forests, rivers, and skies around us give life to every community, every family, and every generation. We’re all connected through the world beneath our feet and the air we breathe, a reminder that caring for our planet means caring for each other.

Today, we celebrate the spirit of nurturing, resilience, and generosity that surrounds us every day in nature. May we continue to protect the places that sustain us, appreciate their beauty, and leave them better for those who come after us.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at SunShare.

There’s only one Earth—and it’s worth protecting. 🌎
The choices we make today shape the world we live in tomorrow, and every step toward a cleaner future adds up.

Thanks to the support of our over 19,000 subscribers, SunShare’s community solar gardens are projected to offset over 5 billion pounds of coal burned over their lifetimes.

This Earth Day, thank you for being part of it—we couldn’t have done it without you.

This Giving Tuesday, SunShare committed to making a donation on behalf of every new subscriber who joined us in Colorado and Minnesota. We’re excited to share that—together—we contributed over $900 to two organizations doing meaningful work in the communities we serve.

In Colorado, continues to support families with essential resources. In Minnesota, protects the natural landscapes that make the state so special. We’re proud to support both.

A sincere thank-you to all the new SunShare subscribers who made these contributions possible. Your choice to support clean energy also helped lift up local nonprofits doing important work every day.

As SunShare continues advancing our agrivoltaics planning in New Mexico, one of our key focus areas is understanding how grazing and land-management practices influence long-term soil health.

Recently, our team reviewed a new research project shared by Farmer Dan Dotterer that examines how sheep grazing within commercial solar sites affects:

• Soil health
• Forage nutritive quality
• Pasture conditions

The study offers a valuable baseline look at a short-term, region-specific site—recognizing that full ecosystem benefits take time to emerge. Soil, forage, ecological, and economic outcomes tied to solar grazing can vary widely based on climate, region, and site history, making this type of foundational research essential as agrivoltaics continues to evolve.

We had an amazing time connecting with our neighbors at the 2025 Big Pride Littleton event!

SunShare’s very own Community Solar Specialist, Julie Nelson, helped share how community solar makes clean energy accessible to everyone — no rooftop panels required. Building Community, One Event at a Time

Events like Big Pride Littleton, hosted by , celebrate the vibrant tapestry of the Littleton community by bringing together people of all backgrounds to connect, learn, and celebrate inclusion.

At SunShare, we believe clean energy should be as inclusive as the communities we serve — and we’re proud to support events that bring people together to build a brighter, cleaner future for all.

What an inspiring day at the PA Renewable Energy Summit!

We loved being part of the conversation on building a brighter, more sustainable future. Special shoutout to Emma Azadan, SunShare’s Development Director, for sharing her insights on the panel!

Big thanks to Ron Celentano and the PA Solar Center for bringing together passionate voices in the renewable energy community.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Today marks the longest night of the year, but don’t worry—the sun is beginning its gradual return! 🌅 From this point forward, the duration of daylight will steadily increase with each passing day until the summer solstice. 🌞 This means solar energy systems will have more sunlight available to convert into electricity, resulting in progressively higher levels of energy generation as the days lengthen.

Here’s the science: Solar panels work by harnessing photons—particles of light—from the sun. These photons are absorbed by the photovoltaic cells in the panels, which then convert the light energy into direct current (DC) electricity through the photovoltaic effect. As the Earth tilts toward the sun and the days lengthen, solar panels are exposed to more sunlight, which increases the amount of energy they can generate. Even during the shorter, colder winter months, solar panels continue to produce energy, helping to provide clean, renewable electricity to the grid.

So, while we enjoy the beauty of the season, let’s look forward to the brighter days ahead!"

"Do Solar Panels still work in the winter?"

Even when temperatures drop, our solar panels continue to generate power! Here's why:

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity by capturing photons (light particles) and turning them into electrical energy. While winter days are shorter, the panels can still capture the sunlight that reaches them, even if it's cold or cloudy. In fact, cooler temperatures can actually improve the efficiency of solar panels, as they perform better when they’re not overheating under the summer sun.

While snowfall may temporarily cover panels, once the snow melts or slides off, your solar panels get back to work! Plus, the reflection of sunlight off snow can even boost energy production on sunny days. 🌨️🌞

So yes, you can still count on solar energy in the winter months! By joining SunShare’s community solar program, you’re choosing clean, renewable energy all year long. Ready to make the switch?"
