Only a few times have I taken a book that I thought was young adult, only to find out it's very NOT young adult halfway through 🤣

Keeping in theme with our children's books this week for sick parents, this is an OLD favourite (of mine specifically) that I think most people will recognise.

The Velveteen Rabbit, written by Margery Williams, narrated by Sarah Kay Peters.

I remember when I was a child, begging and begging to be read this story. I remember a show version of it that I loved to watch as well, which is an achievement in itself since we only had about five movies to cycle through until I was seven 🤣. There's nothing I can say to promote this book; it has spoken for itself for many many years. Our job is to keep it alive, and relive it again and again through our children and grandchildren. I am truly thankful for Sarah bringing this book our way. She brings old words to life, invoking so many good memories!

Kids are back to school, the weather is cooling down, and everything moves indoors....
Germs come home, voices are lost... But fear not! Bedtime stories with your kids can still happen through audiobook form! Whether you're hitting play and running away so you don't get sick, or if you're the one who is sick and you're just not up to "doing voices" .... Keep this little gold mine in mind!

The Princess and the Goblin, written by George MacDonald, narrated by Sarah Kay Peters, is a delightful children's story! I enjoyed every minute of Sarah's narration (and rhyme!). Working on a children's story is a rare treat, but I love it even more when I know the story I'm working on is special to the narrator too. I never take a Spoken Realms production lightly because it generally means the narrator has a true passion for whatever the book is, and this one is very deserving of it!

And I have to say - isn't the cover art GORGEOUS?!

Oh yes, we have books, and they make us invincible. With books, we're never constrained by our daily lives.

In the mood for something a little darker? This little gem might just catch your eye!

Part of the Priest Series, I bring to you Devil, written by Sierra Simone, narrated by Megan Wicks and Jacob Morgan, produced by Lyric Audiobooks.

Most of the time if people tell me a book is going to be "darker", I would consider the majority of the content to be fairly predictable. Devil, however, is FULL of substance. It's not a book written to be erotica; the characters in this book are genuinely struggling with real life problems. Bring the tissues because you're probably going to tear up a few times at a minimum.
The heart that goes into this kind of narration is exactly why I know I have the best job in the world. This book gave me shivers, it made my heart ache, and to be honest sometimes the character's pain was so darn real that it was almost uncomfortable! Megan and Jacob brought this book to life in so many ways; it wouldn't read the same without them!

I also have to give a shout out to Tonganoxie, KS. This is where the book takes place, and having left part of my heart there when I moved back to Canada last year, it was wonderful to visit it again in book form!
