Energy Tip Tuesday with Eric Douglas

Eric recommends switching from hot water to cold water when doing your laundry. Heating water accounts for a large portion of energy use in each load, while modern detergents are designed to clean just as effectively in cold water.

We’re excited to welcome back returning SEEL intern Chaise Dowdell for her third summer apart of our SEEL Internship Program!

Chaise first discovered SEEL during a college event, and even earlier had the opportunity to receive a SEEL scholarship during her senior year of high school. That early connection sparked her interest in learning more about the company and gaining meaningful professional experience.

Chaise chose to return to SEEL because of the positive work environment, the valuable professional experience she continues to gain, and the opportunity to further build on her skills. She is also motivated by being part of a company that helps make her city, Detroit, more energy efficient.

For new interns, Chaise offers simple but powerful advice: don’t be shy.
“There are so many valuable connections to make, and everyone has knowledge and wisdom to share. Take advantage of every opportunity to learn, ask questions, and build relationships. Make sure you leave with more knowledge and experience than you had when you started.”

Energy Tip Tuesday with Eric Douglas

Stay cool while saving energy the smart way.

Eric recommends switching from CFL bulbs to LED lighting around your home. While CFLs were once considered efficient, they still release more heat as wasted energy. LEDs, on the other hand, convert more electricity into light rather than heat making them significantly more efficient and longer-lasting.
