The bigger the assembly gets, the less practical it becomes to keep returning to the screen just to confirm a completed step.

On a larger workpiece, the operator may need to move around the station, fetch components or work away from the display.

ODIN Workstation’s wireless battery-less push button lets the operator carry the control with them and confirm operations without having to return to the screen.

The work instruction still guides the process. Scanning and other required steps still happen as defined. The operator simply has more freedom to work where the assembly requires them to be.

Not every production problem should lead straight to a new machinery.

Many manual and semi automated stations already have capable operators and usable equipment. What they often lack is consistent digital guidance, better station control and
clearer visibility of how the work is being done.

ODIN Workstation does not require a brand new production line.

It can start at one station and scale across a larger line. That station can be manual or it can be integrated with PLCs, tools, robots and other equipment.
It can also be introduced to existing lines to enforce the approved process and collect production data.

For an engineer trying to build an internal business case, that creates a much more practical starting point: prove the value where it matters first and scale when it makes sense.

Another successful day at the Nissan Innovation Manufacturing Event in Tennessee.

We had the opportunity to meet Nissan purchasing managers, industrial engineers, controls engineers, skilled trades personnel, floor operators and training students. It was a great event filled with valuable discussions, networking and learning opportunities.

Your best operator should not be the only person who knows the best way to build the product.

Experienced operators often develop better sequences and quicker methods that remove wasted movements.

The problem is when that knowledge stays with one person. The rest of the team is still expected to match the same output without the same method.

ODIN Workstation helps manufacturers turn the preferred method into a controlled digital process at the station so the same standard can be followed across operators and shifts.

Production data is only useful if it tells you what actually happened and is recorded.

ODIN Workstation can collect data from the process as the part is being built. This includes tool data, operational data and timing information.

That gives engineers and managers something more useful than a final pass or fail. They can investigate rework, see where time is being lost and identify opportunities to improve the process.

Paper instructions are easy to create. Keeping every copy current at the station is the difficult part.

One process change can leave older versions on the line while operators are still expected to hit the target and know which page is correct.

ODIN Workstation puts the approved process on screen at the station. When the process is updated, the current version is what the operator sees and follows.
That helps process and quality teams standardize ex*****on more effectively instead of relying on paper, memory and word of mouth.

With ODIN Workstation, an authorised engineer can update the product or process and push the approved change to the stations. The operator then works from the current version and is guided through the updated sequence.
That makes engineering changes easier to roll out without relying on paper updates, memory or word of mouth.
