Our final Women in Construction Week highlight is none other than Sheila Fisher. For many years, Sheila served as President of Fisher Industries and worked tirelessly to help shape our company into what it is today. Her leadership, dedication, and vision are a lasting part of our foundation.

Beyond her role as President, Sheila lived a full and passionate life. She was deeply involved in raising and breeding horses, and she had a profound love for genealogy. To her, genealogy was more than a hobby. It was a meaningful way to preserve her family's history and honor their stories. Sheila was also a strong and devoted mother whose guidance made a lasting impact on her children.

Although Sheila is no longer with us, her legacy, commitment, and influence will not be forgotten! Thank you to everyone who followed along with our Women in Construction Week posts, as we celebrated the incredible women who keep our company running every single day!❤️

A few fun facts about Tiarra:
🚧How long have you been working in construction?
I will be coming up on my 15th year with the company. Crazy how time flies!
🦺What do you appreciate most about working at Fisher?
This position has encouraged significant personal and professional growth by challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone. While I once considered myself highly introverted, I’ve grown to genuinely value connecting with customers and building strong relationships with both coworkers and clients alike. My favorite example of this would be consulting with a customer to identify the most effective product option for their project needs and them calling me back the following day just to tell me how much they love how everything turned out. That's an incredibly rewarding win at the end of the day.
🏢What is the most exciting project you've tackled at Fisher?
This company has contributed to many remarkable projects, but the one that excites me most is the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. I’ve had the opportunity to speak with other contractors working on-site, and their enthusiasm for the project has been truly contagious.
The 100,000-square-foot presidential library is scheduled to hold its grand opening on July 4 in celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary. The exhibits will highlight Theodore Roosevelt’s life and legacy, with a special focus on his dedication to the conservation and sustainable use of our country’s natural resources
🧱Why did you decide to work in the construction industry?
I originally applied with Fisher expecting it to be a short-term role during the peak of the oil boom. What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would grow to enjoy the work and the opportunities it provided
🏗️What advice would you give other women looking to work in construction whether in the field or the office? It has its challenges but that's what makes the work so fulfilling!

📝How long have you been working in construction? I've been working here for about 3 years
👷‍♀️What do you appreciate most about working at Fisher? We have a great team here, and everyone at dispatch has your back.
🧰Why did you decide to work in the construction industry? My neighbor and dad were in the construction business so I was familiar with it. I was offered to come check it out and so I decided to give it a try. I thought it was a good idea to switch things up and try new things.
💪What advice would you give other women looking to work in construction whether in the field or the office? Be tenacious, don't give up, keep communicating and don't second guess yourself.
