This customer reached out to us after having a brand-new mini-split heat pump system installed by another contractor — but the system had never worked properly since the day it was installed. After troubleshooting the installation, we found several serious installation issues:
❌ Incorrect electrical wiring
❌ Communication wiring was not installed according to the manufacturer’s requirements
❌ Refrigerant line sets were leaking due to improperly made flare connections
❌ Poor installation practices that prevented a brand-new system from operating correctly
A mini-split heat pump is not simply a matter of mounting the equipment and connecting a few wires and pipes. These systems require proper electrical wiring, communication wiring, refrigerant piping, flare connections, evacuation, testing, and commissioning according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
The lesson? Don’t sacrifice quality to save a few dollars on installation. Hiring a qualified HVAC professional who understands mini-split systems and follows industry standards and manufacturer installation requirements can save you from expensive repairs, wasted time, and potentially having to pay for the installation twice.
When it comes to HVAC, you really do get what you pay for. Don't cheat the system. Hire someone who knows how to install the system correctly. 🔧❄️🔥
