Dodge City Community College (DC3) hosted a group of Dodge City High School (DCHS) students for Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 6, in the DC3 Auxiliary Gym. At the luncheon event, five seniors were awarded $500 scholarships to attend DC3 next fall. Scholarship recipients include (left to right) Francisco Riquiac Castro, Stride (DCHS); Carlos Ochoa Soto, Stride (DCHS); Diana Antonio, DCHS; Adrik Perez, DCHS; and Dilma Beatriz Arias Perez, DCHS. Before and after the scholarship presentation, students had opportunities to network with local companies including Cargill, Curtis Machine Co. Inc., and Hilmar Cheese Co. Inc. In addition, Scott Bogner, of Kitchens Inc., spoke to the group about the importance of workforce jobs in the community.

Also on Friday, August 25th, Curtis Machine’s President, John Curtis, attended the Kansas Manufacturing Solutions (KMS) Executive Roundtable – Salina event. There were great discussions including subjects of automation, people, and processes. The roundtable was a successful opportunity for executives to gain valuable connections, actionable ideas, and inspiration to further propel their organization's success.

On Friday, August 25th, Curtis Machine visited with the Dodge City Community College Rodeo Team. We wish this great group of rodeo athletes a safe and successful year ahead. We anticipate many strong & solid performances from our community rodeo champions at Colby Community College on Sept. 15th.

Curtis Machine is working hard to fill the gap left when Hub City closed their Aberdeen facility. Curtis Machine designs and manufactures Parallel shaft gearboxes similar to some parallel shaft boxes being discontinued. Customers are now coming to CURTIS MACHINE COMPANY, INC. to make the boxes that they can no longer purchase. As an example, Curtis machine has their standard model 3510 parallel shaft gearbox (https://www.curtismachine.com/3510.html)

Curtis Machine also makes gearboxes to customer specifications. "We design and manufacture our gears and gearboxes in-house" says John Curtis, President of Curtis
Machine. "That gives us the flexibility to make what the customer wants, either a
special design for them or reverse engineering something that is no longer available.”
