to the powerful 2016 storm that swept through Duluth.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 years since crews from across the Midwest came together in a heroic effort to restore power and help our community recover. We’re still grateful to all our team members who answered the call.

WATCH as we turn the page towards the next chapter in Boswell Energy Center’s strong history!

Community leaders, state and local officials, and project partners gathered at the 500-acre site last month as Minnesota Power broke ground on the 85-megawatt Boswell Solar project.

The event highlighted how this reinvestment in a regional energy workhorse will help add more local clean energy, support Minnesota’s energy goals and carry Boswell’s legacy forward.

Minnesota Power began harnessing the energy of the St. Louis River more than a century ago, in 1906.

Today, we operate the largest hydroelectric system in the state, 11 facilities on five rivers.

We’re proud to celebrate these milestones and our 120-megawatt hydro system on National Hydropower Day.
