This week, we're featuring Yvonne Kennedy, Senior Benefits Analyst, who has been helping support KBI team members for the past two years!

Yvonne oversees our benefits programs at KBI, making sure they run smoothly, stay compliant, and remain accessible to employees. She also works to improve processes, strengthen vendor partnerships, and provide employees with the information they need to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

What Yvonne enjoys most about her work is helping employees navigate benefits so they can stay focused on advancing life-changing science. She's currently focused on expanding wellness resources and creating new tools that make benefits information easier to understand and use.

Outside of work, Yvonne enjoys researching crystals, gemstones, and jewelry-making as she plans for a future retirement business. She also loves camping in Colorado, spending time with her husband of 16 years, and keeping up with her four pets: three energetic Australian Shepherds and a very laid-back Maine C**n cat named Loki.

Meet this week’s , Cole McMullin, Process Development Scientist I, based at our Venture Center facility in Durham, NC. Cole develops the purification processes that transform harvested cell culture material into clean, safe drug substances ready for manufacturing.

One of the things Cole appreciates most about working at KBI is the opportunity to tackle a wide variety of molecules and scientific challenges. He particularly enjoys the hands-on work involved in chromatography-based purification, an area closely tied to his background in biochemistry.

"What I value most about the work at KBI is the opportunity to apply and expand my background in biochemistry to real-world processes," Cole shares. "Each molecule presents unique challenges, which keeps the work interesting."

Outside of work, Cole enjoys tending to his balcony garden and spending time with Maximus, his 11-year-old cat. Maximus loves cuddling with his mom, roughhousing with his dad, and lounging among the plants in the garden.

Meet Jason Tickle, our this week! Jason is a Manufacturing Associate II at our Hamlin Road facility and has been with KBI for about a year and a half, or, as he prefers to measure it, roughly 46 million seconds and counting.

As part of the manufacturing team, Jason helps support large-scale cell culture operations, including media preparation, bioreactor monitoring, sampling, and batch ex*****on. While he jokingly describes himself as a "biotech wizard" wrangling a 2,000-liter bioreactor, what he enjoys most is knowing that the work his team does helps create therapies that can make a real difference for patients.

One of Jason's most memorable moments at KBI was hearing recognition for the team's hard work over the loud speakers from site leadership. It was a simple moment, but one that reminded him how much the team's efforts matter and how many people contribute to every successful batch.

When Jason's not supporting manufacturing operations, he's raising chickens and ducks on his farm, exploring sustainable energy projects, preparing for his annual trip to Burning Man, or being entertained by Dash, his movie-star-esque dog whose dramatic zoomies and endless confidence keep farm life interesting.

This Team Member Tuesday, we’re celebrating Matt Charlett, Automation Engineer III at KBI’s Boulder facility!

As part of the Facilities Engineering team, Matt works on the automation systems that support our manufacturing facility. His role includes programming equipment control systems, resolving technical issues, and designing new improvements that help teams work more efficiently. Matt’s work helps create reliable processes and supports the day-to-day manufacturing environment at KBI.

One of Matt’s favorite things about KBI is the collaboration across teams. In his role, he partners with associates across Manufacturing, Science & Technology, Validation, Quality, Facilities, and Supply Chain, and says the people and shared sense of purpose are what make KBI stand out.

“There’s a culture here where the focus on quality of life and the patients behind every product is felt and shared at every level,” Matt shared. “That connection is something I’m reminded of every day, and it’s what makes the work genuinely meaningful to me.”

Outside of work, Matt enjoys working on projects around the house and yard, watching Flyers hockey and F1, and spending time outdoors hiking and skiing. He’s also a proud dog dad to Chloe, his 7-year-old mini goldendoodle.

Meet Ted McCoy, Principal Engineer at KBI’s Patriot Park site and our feature this week! For over five years, Ted has supported Manufacturing Operations through his work on the Manufacturing Process Control System (MPCS), which monitors and controls key manufacturing processes.

As a process controls engineer, Ted focuses on making systems easier to use and less error-prone for manufacturing associates, helping teams work more efficiently and successfully every day. His wide range of experience across industries — from power plants and semiconductor manufacturing to fill finish and biopharma — brings valuable perspective to solving challenges at KBI.

Ted’s favorite thing about KBI is the opportunity for employees to directly contribute to the company’s success and collaborate across teams to help move work forward.

Outside of work, Ted enjoys biking, hiking, remodeling his house, and camping with his family (he has two sets of twins!). He also shares his home with a clingy cat, and a very hungry dog.
