What happens when AI has to work where the cloud can't reach?
Today, our founder Samudra Vijay took the stage at the NC State University Applied AI Symposium to present "AI on the Edge: Smart Surveillance and Asset Monitoring for Electric Utilities."
Electric substations are often air-gapped or short on bandwidth, which means cloud-based analytics simply can't operate at the edge of the grid, where monitoring matters most.
That's the problem SSAM (Smart Surveillance and Asset Monitoring) from SAM ANALYTIC SOLUTIONS - Electric Substation and Industrial Automation SOLUTIONS was built to solve. SSAM | AI Surveillance & Asset Monitoring for Utilities runs AI entirely on the edge, inside the substation. It reads SCADA data natively over DNP3 and delivers real-time video and sensor analytics for intrusion detection, equipment health and anomaly alerts, with no cloud dependency.
Thank you to North Carolina State University and the College of Engineering for bringing industry, faculty and students together around AI that solves real-world problems. It was a privilege to share how edge AI can make critical infrastructure safer, smarter and more resilient.
