This little detail around the pool was much more intentional than it might look.

The placement of these planters was planned early, coordinating with the hardscape to make sure both water and lighting wire were exactly where they needed to be. Small FX Luminaire uplights were then tucked into the greenery, adding just enough ambient light to bring another layer of warmth to the pool at night.

And on this project, I even had the opportunity to get my hands dirty—specifying the pots and greenery, designing their placement, and planting them myself. 🌿

It’s a small detail, but a great example of why the outdoor experience should be considered early.

A little collaboration along the way with Paradise Landscape on the landscape details and Mary Kathrine | MK Interiors on the pot selection helped bring it all together.

A shade can cover a window. Or it can become part of the architecture.

Working alongside Kelly at Here Interiors, we considered every detail—fabric, opacity, hardware finish, placement, and even what the shade would look like completely open.

For this space, we selected Lutron Palladiom Wire-Free shades with Satin Graphite hardware and E Screen 3% in Charcoal Cocoa. The 3% openness helps manage solar heat and protect the flooring, cabinetry, and interior finishes, while still preserving the view.

Aesthetically, the Charcoal Cocoa fabric and Satin Graphite hardware blend so beautifully with the surrounding wood finishes that the shade almost reads as one continuous architectural element.

When raised, it creates an architectural eyebrow across the window—clean, intentional, and perfectly placed. Across multiple windows, Lutron’s synchronized movement and precise hembar alignment add another level of refinement.

Because specifying automated shades is about more than choosing a fabric. It’s choosing the right combination of design, function, and technology for the home.

It’s never just a shade.

Samples. Infrastructure. The right collaboration. Installation + programming. And ultimately, the vision.

This pantry was always meant to be a statement within the home. It’s visible from the great room, so every detail—from the fabric and hardware to how the Roman shade would function—needed to feel intentional.

That meant planning the wiring and infrastructure before the walls were finished. Then came the fun part—samples, fabrics + finishes.

For this window, we paired a Lutron automated shade drive with a custom Roman by Wolf Drapery, allowing us to incorporate the homeowner’s fabric selection while still achieving the automation + control planned from the beginning.

Then comes installation + programming—bringing all of those pieces together and giving the homeowner simple ways to control it.

A press of a button on the Lutron Palladiom keypad.

Or simply—

“Hey Josh, close the shades.”

The finished detail may look effortless, but what you’re really seeing is the result of decisions made long before installation.

Sometimes it’s the smallest details that make a home feel just right.

In this little pantry nook, that detail was the lighting. The homeowner wanted this lamp to be part of the lighting control scene, not something that had to be controlled separately.

A simple Lutron plug-in lamp dimmer, tucked out of sight, made that possible—allowing the lamp to become part of the home’s lighting scenes and schedules.

A small addition to this beautiful home, and a perfect example of technology supporting both the design and the way someone lives.
