Although we have been a bit quiet on Facebook lately, Rock Flat Minerals LLC has been busy on a new project that we are sure our customers will love. Here is a sneak peek: a portable running water flume designed to make washing our popular gem rough mining bags even more fun and easy. Looking for something really special for that rockhound on your Christmas gift list? Rock Flat Minerals has a wide variety of fluorescent rocks that are sure to please, like this piece of sodalite from Greenland (the fluorescent picture was taken in a well-lit room...that is how bright this stuff is!). For those that are not familiar with Greenland sodalite, this is one of the brightest longwave minerals known (the Greenland material is much brighter than the Yooper-stones from Michigan) and much of this material will tenebresce...it turn purple after exposure to shortwave UV! (and can be turned back to white with a bright flashlight).

We also carry fluorescent wernerite, Idaho fluorite, and seldom seen Idaho fluorescents from our claim including scapolite and wollastonite. We also have a wide variety of rare local minerals, including ilvaite, huebnerite, and cavansite from the type locality at Lake Owyhee that is nearly impossible to find. Please inquire!
