Horizon has announced several internal advancements in the last few weeks:

1. Production Manager - An employee that was hired as a Stamping Press Operator in 2011, later promoted to 2nd shift Lead Operator and Press Setup Technician, has been named as Production Manager for stamping!
2. 2nd Shift Lead Operator - An employee that was hired in 2014 as a second shift Stamping Press Operator has been promoted to 2nd Shift Lead Operator, reporting directly to the Production Manager.
3. Compliance Manager - An employee who was in 2014 as Management Systems Administrator has been promoted to Compliance Manager.
4. Warehouse Manager - For the past several years, Horizon's Materials Manager has filled the role of Warehouse Manager. Recently, our Shipping & Receiving Coordinator/Warehouse Lead has been promoted to Warehouse Manager. He will directly supervise a warehouse staff of 3 employees, including Shipping & Receiving personnel. He has been with Horizon for 12 years.
5. Inventory and Production Control Specialist - On the first anniversary of being hired in Horizon's warehouse, an employee has capped his year with his second promotion. First, to Inventory Control Associate, and now to Inventory and Production Control Specialist. The sky's the limit!

All of the above promotions were made possible by continued growth and Horizon's commitment to promoting from within!

Horizon Complex Metal Stamping is looking to fill the position Jig Grinder Operator immediately! This position supports Horizon's Tool Room. We will train an individual with the right skills and aptitude. Duties include:
1. Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool
requirements, and operational sequences.
2. Select machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.
3. Measure workpieces and layout work, using precision measuring devices.
4. Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine
operation.
5. Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces,
sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal workpieces.
6. Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct
problems.
7. Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications using measuring
instruments such as gauges or micrometers.
8. Jig grind dies, inserts and components to print.
9. Inspect all work to print to ensure specifications are met, utilizing appropriate measuring equipment.
10. Maintain all personal measuring equipment ensuring measuring accuracy including indicators,
micrometers, gauge blocks etc.
11. Set up, operate and maintain jig grinding equipment. Keep machine oiled as necessary.
12. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
13. Comply with all company quality, environmental, and health and safety requirements.

We require a high school diploma and 1 – 2 years basic tool and die experience including, but not limited to the ability to read prints, operate and maintain jig grinders, and use and maintain measuring equipment is preferred. We will train an individual with basic tool and die experience or grinding experience, holding tolerances up to 0.0001 in.

We have hired another Press Operator, starting work on September 6. Also had a Tool Room Assistant start yesterday. We continue to explore all leads we can to get more applicants.

We made a hire today, but are still looking for up to 7 more press operators, for first and second shift, along with Tool and Die Makers, and Quality Department personnel. Want to do better, move up, earn more??

Horizon Complex Metal Stampings (Horizon Die Company) has several employment opportunities that we would like to share. We are currently looking for Stamping Press Operators on both first and second shift. The metal stamping industry is growing, and careers in this industry are in demand!!

Press operators have career potential. We start at $12 per hour, and experienced operators can earn more. We promote from within, and have one of the best Tool and Die Maker Apprenticeship programs in Northern Illinois. Our shop is air-conditioned, safe, and well-lit. Shift premium is paid for second shift, as well.
