We shoot aerial footage throughout construction to track progress for our project management teams and to show clients. They’re always stunning, but the view from above offers something more interesting. Perspective.

From above, you see what truly shapes a Cape Cod build—proximity to the water, natural topography, precise setback positioning, and how the light moves across the site from morning to late afternoon.

Four homes. Four distinct lots. Each designed and positioned to capture the best of its piece of the Cape.

There are still about four good weeks left before the cover goes on the pool— and they're the best ones. Water's still warm, the weather is still perfect, the traffic is a little lighter, and the last light of August is magical.
Get in while you can.

The wooden slat wall doesn't stop at the stair rail on the loft level— it runs straight down through the great room, creating a design element that is nearly as beautiful as the view. Repeating a single design detail across two stories is the kind of complicated millwork detail our team is directed to create regularly — and exactly the kind we're used to executing.

It's hot. Need shade? A well-built pergola adds visual interest, and can turn a sun drenched space or exposed deck into the spot everyone fights over on a Cape Cod summer afternoon.

Because we are general contractors, rather than builders, we coordinate with all of the subcontractors involved in building your home, including the landscape architect and installation team. This yields a seamless building process and a more cohesive whole upon completion of the project.

This is by no means the first time we have shared photos of our custom millwork, but some things bear repeating.

HISTORY LESSON – THE GABLE: Last month we touched on the impact and deep historic roots of the gambrel roofline in New England architecture. Just as significant is the gable.

The gable roof, distinguished by two sloping roof planes meeting at a central ridge, has been a defining feature of New England architecture since English settlers arrived in the early 1600s. Adapted from traditional European building methods, its steep pitch proved ideal for the region's harsh climate, allowing snow and rain to shed quickly while providing durable, efficient protection from winter storms. Its simple construction also made it economical for early builders. Beyond its practical benefits, the gable creates balanced proportions, strong architectural character, and opportunities for decorative details, making it one of New England's most enduring roof forms. The gable became especially prominent during the Shingle-style movement of the late 19th century. Architects used multiple front- and cross-gables beneath continuous cedar shingles to create informal, picturesque homes that blended naturally with New England's coastlines. Deep gables emphasized sweeping rooflines and framed ocean views. Today, the gable remains a hallmark of architecture on Cape Cod because it combines timeless beauty with exceptional performance in the region's demanding climate, making it equally suited to historic homes and contemporary coastal designs.
