In 1976, JaySan Gas Service launched with two people, a lot of hard work, and a simple strategy: do right by your neighbors.

Today we run a full fleet of delivery trucks, service vehicles, and a tractor-trailer — serving the same community Jay and Sandy set out to serve nearly half a century ago.

Ever wonder where the name JaySan comes from?

It's simple — Jay and Sandy Plissey, the husband-and-wife team who founded this company in 1976. No corporate naming agency. No focus groups. Just two people who built something together and put their names on it.

That's the kind of business we've always been — personal, local, and accountable.

Fifty years later, we're still here. 🎉

Before there was JaySan Gas Service, there was Freetown Gas and Appliance — founded in 1959 by Velma and Keene Dunham. Their son-in-law Jay Plissey started working alongside them in 1964, learning the propane business from the ground up. When Freetown Gas closed its doors in 1976, Jay and his wife Sandy saw an opportunity — and a responsibility — to make sure their neighbors still had a reliable local propane provider.
