Nothing quite like entering a single membrane inflatable.

Light, Color, Curvature, Darkness. The lack of edges really create an immersive field that you really have to experience in person.

This particular maze is a framework for testing out different spatial effects on small scale modular bubbles that Velcro together. It has continued to expand week by week under the prolific Staveley Kuzmanov .

The struggle designing for public interaction..

No matter how much thought you put into an interface and animations you are always surprised by how people engage with the work..

Clouds rolling over hundreds of perspectives.

Timelapse inside our latest Compound Camera. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was tuning the cells to all work with the same focal length lenses. Because of the nature of the 3d shape the cells all couldn’t be the same size, so each of them focuses on a slightly different depth.

How many cells do you think make up the whole piece?

Windy day for a test inflation of Compound Camera 3! If we made something that can see itself, does that mean it’s self aware?

Coming soon to modebyflickr curated by Alex Czetwertynski September 18-20 in Minneapolis, MN

We are excited to be premiering our latest Compound Camera next weekend modebyflickr !

We pulled out all the stops on this one, 221 unique camera obscura cells all arrayed around a doubly curved geometry. Every piece of fabric in this artwork is unique and we developed many tools and techniques to label and stitch them all together. Weighing in at 190 lbs it is one of the largest most complex inflatables we have made to date.

We can’t wait to see how people play and interact with it!Stay tuned

Do you have a leaky air mattress? Our (not so) secret technique can make it function forever!
Let us know if we should do a more detailed video on how you could do this yourself.

Some snippets of our new Grove interactions from a few days ago. 🔊🔊🔊

Inspired by branching structures in nature, we wanted to create audio/visual feedback that could gamify the distribution of light through these nonlinear systems. They are a work in progress, but it is so incredibly helpful to see how kids and people interact with them in space.

Each grove is a distinct topology with sensors embedded in each foot that trigger various animations and sounds linked to them. Playing around with some graph theory and particle traversals, we tried to find simple interactions that could promote open play.

Buubble Archive tour of our second professional commission, the RGBubble.

Designed as an immersive lounge space placing people in the middle of a color mixing diagram. As light passes through red, green, and blue fabrics they mix to produce subtle hues of the entire additive color spectrum.

Let us know what project you would like to see next in our bubble archive!
