Phase 1 of O’Hares domestic water storage and pumping system was upgraded from an Old KMC Building Automation control system to a more robust redundant AB-PLC System.
Allan-ICS in partnership with Siemens Building Automation documented and reverse engineered the existing system. After review and conversations with CDA operations new enhancements were added to the new PLC program and HMI’s for simplified operation. A 6-pump selectable PID pressure control sequencer with additional local operations for improved fault tolerence was programmed in to better handle the demand of the on-going ORDNext Expansion project.
Over the past two weeks the old system was systematically switch over to the new PLC controls with zero disruption to any terminal water supplies. Finalizing with a witnessed testing, commissioning, and operator training.
This controls upgrade lays the groundwork for Phase 2’s mechanical improvements that will further the systems capabilities.
