Starbucks is one of the largest and best-known coffee chains in the world, founded in 1971 in Seattle, Washington, by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl and Gordon Bowker. The original idea was to sell coffee beans and equipment for their preparation. In 1982, Howard Schultz joined the company and, after a trip to Italy, proposed transforming Starbucks into an Italian-style coffee chain. This vision led to the global expansion of Starbucks, which now has thousands of stores around the world, offering a wide variety of beverages and coffee-related products. The first Starbucks store was located in the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle. Schultz purchased the company in 1987 and began opening new stores at an accelerated pace, focusing on creating a unique customer experience, with inviting spaces and a diverse menu of coffee drinks. Starbucks introduced concepts such as coffee to go and the "third place," a space between home and work where people can relax and socialize. Over the years, Starbucks has continually innovated, introducing products like the Frappuccino and Pumpkin Spice Latte, which have become seasonal favorites. The company has also placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, with initiatives to ethically source coffee, reduce its environmental footprint and support coffee-growing communities around the world. Starbucks has expanded its global presence, with stores in more than 80 countries, and remains a leading brand in the coffee industry, known for its quality, innovation and commitment to social responsibility.
