We congratulate Vivian Watkins for winning the essay contest that took place at Bleckley County High School, in which ninth grade students participated. Students wrote an essay about the difference between a cooperative and a corporation. The contest had over 100 participants from the ninth grade. A special thank you to Mr. Young and Ms. Kotara for allowing us the opportunity to visit their classrooms.

Training and safety aren’t just boxes to check for an Ocmulgee EMC lineman — they’re the backbone of the job. Every day, these crews work around powerful equipment and unpredictable conditions, and the only way to do that confidently is through constant learning and a commitment to doing things the right way. From hands‑on drills to updated safety protocols, linemen stay sharp so they can keep the lights on for our members while protecting themselves and their team. It’s a responsibility they take seriously, and it shows in the quality and reliability of their work.
