Summer flowers!

It is harvest time and I wanted to share my friend Walter's refrigerator pickle recipe. Walt was an old-timer who lived on the Olympic Penninsula. He farmed up a river valley south of Qulcene and was always good for a friendly tomato growing competition and the the epic after-hay parties. I will always remember the green onions standing in a glass of water that he used to enjoy.

The beauty of this recipe is that you can make a quart jar at a time as the cucumbers come on. No cooking, no big harvest, just a jar at a time. Stuff the jar well, add the rest, top off with water and put in the back of the fridge. Shake every few days. They are the best pickles ever!
