I just got a notification of a text sent to me on May 15. From my contacts, not even an unknown number. I’ve missed several calls and texts from people calling me to do some welding too. Notifications of missed calls, voicemails and unread texts popping up days or even weeks after the fact.

So if you’ve been trying to contact me and I haven’t replied, that’s why. If you really need to contact me regarding any welding work, the best bet is probably my business email, [email protected], til I get something figured out with my phone.

I hate t-mobile. Never had this issue before. No missed call or voicemail notifications from contacts and business related calls, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have to block at least 10 spam numbers/day that leave voicemails. Those definitely come right thru and don’t get filtered like they’re supposed to 🙄…

Modified a couple Reese hitch baskets into one big basket to haul a recumbent fat tire bike.

It ended up being a lot more work than I anticipated, but it was a lot of fun though.

The racks were from different manufacturers, so while the overall O.D. dimensions were the same, that was it. Everything else was slightly different and I ended up scabbing in some staggers in a few places. Also added the tubes underneath as fishplates/stiffeners.

The only thing I wasn’t able to do that I had hoped was find a more convenient way to store the ramps I fabbed. I’m going to continue kicking that around in my head, maybe I’ll come up with something.

For now though, this will serve its intended purpose and then some.

This will be a new service I’ll be offering. I’m going to design and build a better linear grinder and keyway cutter first though.

"On The Tractor" Crankshaft Spline Repair

Before you replace a worn down crankshaft, consider reconditioning the splines. Glen Delisle did just that on a John Deere Model A two-cylinder tractor. Best of all, he did it without removing the crankshaft from the tractor.

"I needed to recondition a shaft to fit the clutch hub," recalls Delisle. "I used a welder to build it up and then used a compound machinist vice to grind it down."
